Ponyboy's nightmares

Chapter 1 The News

Johnny: 14 years old
Sodapop: 15 years old going on 16 years old
Darry: 19 years old going on 20 years old
Steve: 18 years old
Two-bit: 20 years old

When I stopped out into the bright sunlight from the darkness of the movie house, I had only two things on my mind: Paul Newman and a ride home.

I was walking home from the movie and saw a blue mustang was following me. It followed me for a few blocks.

I about decided I didn't like it so much though, then spotted a blue mustang trailing me. I was almost two blocks away by then, I started to walk a bit faster. I never been jumped, but I've see Johnny after four Socs go hold of him, and it wasn't pretty. Johnny was scared of his own shadow after that. Johnny was fourteen then.

I knew it wasn't any use though-the fast walking, I mean-even before the blue mustang pull up right beside be and five Socs got out. I got pretty scared-I'm kind of small for being twelfth even tho I had a good build, and tho guys where bigger then me.

One of the Socs called out "need a hair cut, greaser?" "No." I said.

Then I started to slow back away and as I did I back up straight into one of them with a switch blade.

They had me pinged down to the ground and they were on top of me and their switch blade was like a few inches away form my neck. They had my arms and legs pinned down and one of them was sitting on the chest, with his knees on my elbows, and if you don't think that hurt, you're crazy.

I fought to get lose, and I almost did for a second; then they tight-ened up on me and the one on my chest slugged me a couple of times. So I lay still, swearing at them between gasps.

A blade was held to my against my throat. "How'd you like that haircut to begin just below the chin?" One of them said.

I was scared that the Socs had beaten me so mush that I cuts and bruises all over my body.

It occurred to me then that could kill meI went wild and screaming for Soda, Darry, anyone. Darry and the rest of the gang chased the Socs away and back to their cars.

Then my bother Sodapop came over to me and saw how bad I got beaten up and called Darry over. "Ponyboy are you okay?" Darry said.

He was shaking me and I wish he'd stopped. I was dizzy enough anyway. I could tell it was Darry though-partly because of his voice and partly because Darry's always rough with me without meaning to be.

"Sort of I guess and started to cry from all the pain I was in. I said. Quit shacking me Darry.

He stopped instantly. "I'm sorry." Darry said. He really wasn't. Darry isn't ever sorry for anything he does.

Then Sodapop put one arm around me." It's okay Pony they won't hurt you no more." Sodapop said. "Okay." I said under my breath.

Then my two bothers helped me up and walked me back to ge house where we got to meet the rest of the gang.

Then they walked into the house and told Pony to follow them so he could get all his cuts cleaned up.

So he followed Soda into the bathroom and Soda helped him get all his cuts cleaned and fixed him up!

Then Pony and soda went to the living room and said on the couch with the rest of the gang.

The whole gang was at the Curtis house and they were watching tv, when they turned on the news.

They heard on the new that their the Curtis parents has died in auto wreck when they were coming home from their time out in the country.

Then when Pony heard what the news people had said about his parents.

He ran out the house and to the lot and sat down with his head in his knees and started to cry.

Then Darry look over and saw that Pony was gone. So he and the gang went trying to find him.

They looked all over the house and couldn't find him. So Darry told Johnny and Soda to go look for Pony outside

"I want you and Soda to go and check the lot and see if Pony is there?" Johnny just nodded and Soda said "Okay and come on Johnny let go find Pony."

They went out and ran to the lot and found Pony sitting there by the tree and crying. Johnny kneeled down beside his best friend "What's wrong?" Johnny said.

"I'm crying because my mom and dad died in the auto wreck." Ponyboy said. Johnny just nodded "Aw, oh okay." and put one hand around Pony and said "It's going to okay Pony over and over again."

It took a few minutes till Pony calmed down and they help Pony get up and start to walk back to the house. When they got back the house Darry ask Soda "Why did pony
run off like that?"

"He was upset of what he heard on the news about mom and dad." Soda said. "Oh, okay." Darry said.

Later that day Ponyboy went to his room down the hall way and Johnny followed behind him and disappeared in Ponyboy's room. They sat on the bed and talked for hours till it was time for them to have dinner.

They all say at the table and ate their dinner in silence. After they were done it was time get ready to go to bed because tomorrow was going to be the day of the Curtis parents funeral.

It was around 2 am in the morning and Ponyboy was sound asleep in his room with Johnny laying down beside him.

Johnny put one arm around Pony and they were sound asleep together till morning came.
