Amethyst’s P.O.V.

With the villagers hiding safely in the forest with Topaz, Rose, and Alex, I run back to the village. Reikai finds me first, whistling at my armor. “That is some nicely made armor. Yasunari is getting good” he says, mentioning the armory owner. I smile at him, running toward Taisei and the rest of the elfin warriors.

"Are they here?" I ask as I listen to the sound of people marching through the forest.

"Almost" Taisei replies, his eyes flickering across the tree line. The elfin warriors have gathered all sorts of beings together to help with the fight. Dwarves, Fairies, Nymphs, even Shapeshifters are in the lines of the field overlooking the village. Taisei is standing at the front of the group, Reikai and I on each side of him.

“What should we do?”

“Protect the village, don’t let them capture you, and try not to die” Taisei says, pulling out his two swords from their hilts. The trees are suddenly lined with people dressed in black, all sorts of gruesome creatures behind them. Trolls, Ogres, even some evil Nymphs and Fairies. I see a reddish-brown dragon in chains. It looks like Carnelian, a boy who used to live in the dragon village with us. He’s only a baby.

“Amethyst, it wasn’t kind of you to run from us” Grey shouts from his point on the front lines. I glare at him, refusing to speak. “Where are your siblings? And your boy?” He questions, looking through the army behind us.

“That’s none of your concern. Leave us, or suffer the consequences” Taisei speaks first, tapping the tips on his swords against his boots.

“We aren’t leaving. Not until we get back what’s rightfully ours”

“You just marked yourself for death” Taisei lifts his sword in the air, letting out an elfin call. I pull my staff off the back of the armor, inspecting the purple jewel on the top. I point it at oncoming sorcerers. A purple beam shoots across the air and hits two of them, electrocuting them.

“Cool” I whisper to myself, running forward. An ogre spots me headed toward Carnelian, and barrels toward me. He swings his axe toward me and I roll away from it, shocking him with my staff. He falls to the ground with a cry, holding his throbbing leg. I dash passed him up to the dragon. I place my hands against his face, smiling at him. “Don’t worry Carnelian, I’ll get you out of these chains” I whisper, looking at the heavy metal chains holding him to the cart he’s on.

I place my hands on the metal, channeling my power. I hear a click, and all of the shackles around Carnelian’s legs and neck come off. He shakes his head, lifting his wings into the air. “Thank you, Amethyst” He says to me, running into the forest. Just as I turn around, a bolt of magic hits my arm. Nadia is standing there, her hand held up. My arm gets soaked in a warm liquid, and I see blood smeared across the arm of my armor.

“Good luck getting that metal out of your arm” Nadia says, as she holds up her hand to take another shot. I deflect it with my spear, shooting magic with my staff toward her. She falls to the ground and I step over her.

“Good luck getting that electricity out of your body” I say, and run back into the battlefield.

“AMETHYST!”

Somewhere far away, I hear someone scream my name. I use my dragon vision to direct myself toward the cry. I spot Alex and Topaz outside the clearing, Taisei blocking Gray from getting to them. Dammit, he’s found them. I run through the field, passed elfin bodies, and hit Gray in the back with magic. He flinches, and then turns around. “Nice of you to join the party, Amethyst” Gray sneers at me, and I glare at him.

“Leave them alone, Gray” Gray lunges at me, when suddenly a roar rips through the air. Carnelian appears out of the trees, grabbing gray by the arm. He flings him far into the woods, and the battle suddenly stops. Everyone on Gray’s side runs as fast as they can away from the elfin.

Taisei lets out a victory call, which is echoed by the clan members. I smile and run over to Alex, hugging him tight.

“Don’t scare me like that” I whisper to him, and he nods against my neck here he is resting his head.

“Where’s Reikai?” I ask, backing away. I run back to the field, looking around. “Reikai?” I shout, with no response. Suddenly, something grabs my ankle and I jump looking down. Reikai stares up at me, his blue eyes dull. “Reikai!” I say, dropping to my knees. Blood has soaked his shirt right below his rib cage.

“Amethyst, can you get Sakuya for me please?” He whispers, his eyes pleading. I nod, looking to the forest where Sakuya has just emerged.

“Taisei! Sakuya!” I shout, causing the two of them to turn and spot me sitting on the ground. They both come running and Sakuya cries out, falling to her knees next to Reikai. She brushes his hair out of his eyes, looking down at his wound.

“Get a medicine man” She shouts, and Reikai shakes his head.

“No Sakuya, that won’t help. Just… hold me please” Sakuya adjusts her sitting position, pulling Reikai’s top half onto her lap. He stares up at her as she plays with his collar. Her tears are dripping next to his face, her quiet sobs barely heard. “I love you” Reikai whispers, and Sakuya nods her head.

“I love you too. I love you so much, Reikai” Her words seem to sooth him as his eyes look toward the treeline, staring off into nothingness. I reach over and close his eyes, standing up. Gray killed Reikai, and for that he was going to pay.

Sorry, kinda short. I promise to post something longer next time. Let me just say, Reikai was my favorite character and killing him was hard for me. And emotional. I am sad. BYE GUYS!
