"No Kageyama, I told you, I'm not mad because you broke up with me, I'm mad because you lied! You told me-you told me you loved me, but you never did, did you?!" Hinata chokes out from his sobs.
"Shō-"
"Don't call me that!"
"Hinata, I loved you I really did with all my heart! But Hinata, love dies." Kageyama reassures, hurt by his own words.
"Not our love! Our love was magical, you killed it! I CRIED FOR YOU! But- no, you never shed a single tear for me, you say you love me but all you did when I got hurt was hurt me more and call me a 'dumbass'!" Hinata sobs, the words falling out of his mouth roughly.
"Hinata, I- I loved you with all of my heart, I just showed it differently, I swear I loved you!" Kageyama returns starting to cry.
"No Kageyama, you just- you never took ANY time out of your schedule for me, it was always volleyball this volleyball that, but I tried SO hard to make this work! I HATE YOU!" Hinata yells as he storms out of the gym, tears streaming down his face.
Hinata sits by a tree and takes his phone out to text Kenma.
H: hi Kenma
K: hey shō
H: can you come to my house, I know it's a long drive but please?
K: Shō... what happened?
H: HE FU CKING BROKE UP WITH ME THATS WHAT
K: oh Shō, of course I'll come over
Hinata finishes texting Kenma and puts his phone away, he stands up to walk home. Tears are still pouring down his face he tries to fully compose himself before going home and seeing his mother.
Hinata takes a few breaths and wipes off his face the tears falling to the ground. He continues running on the sidewalk until he arrives home.
"Shōyō? Is that you?" His mom calls from the kitchen,
"Yeah mom!" Hinata yells back in his usual chipper voice, but this time forced.
Hinata's mom walks out to him, "Hey Shō, where is your bike?"
"OH SHOOT! Mom I'm so sorry!! I accidentally left it at school because I was in a hurry to get here!"
"Shō... first off it takes a lot longer without your bike... second of all didn't you say Kageyama was coming over today? Third of all why were you in a hurry to get home?"
"Okay fine, Ka... Kageyama broke up with me he- he said he just doesn't love me anymore!" Hinata starts crying again
"Awe Shō..."
Hinata's mom hugs him tightly before saying, "Is Kenma coming over tonight then?"
"Yeah ma... sorry I didn't ask..."
"Hey it's okay I completely understand, this is your first break up after all..."
"Thanks mom, I love you!"
"Love you too Shō,"
Hinata's mom goes back into the kitchen and Hinata starts up the stairs to work on his English homework. Well he was going to do English until his phone buzzed signalling a message. It was from Suga.
S: Hey Hinata! Why aren't you at practice?
H: oh... did the team not tell you?
S: No... what's wrong?
H: Kageyama broke up with me...
S: Awe Hinata...
H: I won't let our old relationship get in the way of volleyball, I just need a few days if that's okay
S: Yeah of course it is! I hope you feel better!
H: thanks see you in a few days
Hinata closes his phone and shuts it off just as the doorbell rings.
"Shōyō!!! Kenma is here!!!!" Hinata's mom shouts,
"Coming mom!" Hinata returns wiping the previous tears once again before rushing down the stairs.
"Hi Shō, how are you?" Kenma says his voice soft and caring.
Hinata runs into his arms and hugs him,
"Kenma!! It hurts, a lot... but having you here will make it better!" Hinata mumbles.
Kenma and Hinata head upstairs to Hinata's room and turn on a movie.
"Hey Shōyō, it's going to be okay, it seems hard now but soon you might even become friends again!" Kenma says his voice steady and calm.
"I know Kenma, it... it just sucks, I love him, I thought we'd be the end game... but then he left me..." Hinata says voice wavering while holding back tears.
"Shō, it's okay, you can cry. Cry as much as you need." Kenma whispers into Hinata's ear. Tears start falling down Hinata's face for what feels to be the millionth time that day.
"Kenma... Th-thank you, you've helped me so much!" Hinata whispers out between his sobs. Hinata hugs Kenma completely forgetting about the movie they were about to watch and cries into Kenma's shoulder instead. After 10 minutes Hinata's breathing steadies and his sobs are quiet.
Kenma realizes Hinata fell asleep, he turns off the television, closes his eyes, and puts his nose in Hinata's hair breathes in his tangerine shampoo.
"If only you knew..."
