But I was getting a little to comfortable in Victor's arms, so I started to squirm.
"Obviously you're not okay, let me help-"
"What? Yes, I'm okay."
I said locking eyes with Victor, as I wiggled out of his grip a little too fast, and ended up on the ground again. I groaned pushing myself up as he caught my back.
"Let me help you."
"No..."
Now I really sound like a baby, but he was being stubborn as hell, so the only way for him to leave me alone is to let him help. So I said.
"Fine, just drive me home for today, I'll give you my address."
"That I can do."
Victor said, as he picked me again, I passed him my car keys. He gently placed me in the passenger seat, before turning the engine over, as we closed our doors. I typed in maps for my home address, as he scanned my phone screen before nodding. At the same time I pulled out my mace and palmed it into my hand.
"Don't you trust me?"
"No, I don't trust anybody, especially you."
"That's harsh."
"That's life."
Victor drove off gently, having a small smirk on his face but I decided not to ask. Once he pulled into my driveway, he suddenly said.
"Hey, where's you're house key?"
"It's on the car keys."
I said pointing to them, as Victor turned the car engine off, then made his way to my side. Before I could start to walk on my own, I was back in Victor's arms again, my hands were loosely wrapped around his neck. I rolled my eyes but appreciated it deep down, as he opened my door, gently placing me on the couch. As I took the chance to clump back a little in it.
"What do you need?"
"Some peace and quiet...."
But the swollen bump on my temple made itself pretty known, dots of pain, spreading across my forehead. The aspirin was wearing off, as I winced rubbing my forehead with my finger.
"Hey, you got pain meds?"
"Yeah there's some Aleve in the lower cabinet."
Victor shuffled around a bit before placing one Aleve tablet in my hand, as I popped it into my mouth, having some milk for me to drink with it. We locked eyes again in this moment as I gulped down the milk, having the urge to sleep.
"I can be outside if you need to sleep."
"That'd be very appreciated, but you could also leave entirely."
"That is true as well."
Victor said moving away from me, placing my car keys next to me before closing my front door, after a while I heard someone pull up as he drove off. My thoughts, my emotions are sort of still now, as a lump formed in my throat. Did I do the right thing?
"Eh..."
No no, I'm definitely not second guessing my decision, he's a creep anyway. Stretching out onto the couch, I placed the cup on the table, before clutching a pillow into my arms. Slipping off to sleep just as quick, I found myself shifting up from my old friend guilt. I couldn't shake it, so I ended up opening my front door to see Victor right there.
"Hey, how are you feeling?"
"Better..."
I said a little surprised, I thought he was gone by now, as my gaze lowered.
"What? Is something wrong-"
"No, I just..."
This feeling sucks, I feel like a kid again. Hugging my shoulders I just came out and said.
"Thank you. You didn't have to help me."
"Well I kind of did."
"No you didn't, you could've just got the lawyers to do everything. Why did you do it?"
First time I've been curious of a man's behavior, got to tread carefully here.
"You were in pain, and it seemed like you needed a friend."
"We are not friends-"
"Don't fight it."
I scoffed as Victor chuckled, I mocked his laugh once more.
"Anyways, I'll have that confession now."
"Sure you don't need to rest?"
"It's fine, pain is an old friend, plus you owe me for throwing my murse like a football."
Victor was reluctant but decided to comply. I dangled my car keys in front of him, and he responded with.
"What do you need?"
"My murse, it has my recorder and other reports on you in it."
"Anything explicit?"
"You just want to see me blush."
"Very much so."
Walking to my backseat, Victor pulled out my murse, then handed it to me on his return. Closing the door he sat on the couch, as I took the ottoman.
"Not all men are bad ya know."
"Nope but they can be snakes, and snakes can change scales, but they are aren't any different. It's natural to have only their interests in mind-"
"I think I'll prove you wrong."
"It's cute you think that."
"It's cute when you think you're always right."
A small pause was given between us, as I locked eyes with him, he was waiting for it and I couldn't really stop it. As I smiled naturally, he grew a grin. Rolling my eyes, it was confession time.
