"hey, where's y/n?" iwaizumi asked, looking around him while oikawa sat down next to him on the rooftop for lunch.

"i'm not sure. i went to go get her but she said she was busy doing something and she would come when she's done." oikawa shrugged. iwaizumi was not one to bug into people's business, but he wasn't one to let this all hold out forever.

"i know why she's not here." iwaizumi sighed, shaking his head slightly.

"why?" oikawa asked, tilting his head slightly. y/n had liked him back, so why was she avoiding him? was it some cliche move that all girls did?

"you know, for someone that's in the highest class, you sure don't have much common sense. she's avoiding you because she's not accepting the fact that she likes you. she probably wants to back off for the person you like, but the person you like is her, so it doesn't really work." iwaizumi explained.

"can you please talk to her after school for me, please?" oikawa begged iwaizumi.

"sure, i was planning on doing it anyways." iwaizumi nodded, closing his eyes. oikawa smiled at his response, happy that he had complied. while oikawa and iwaizumi were on the rooftop talking, y/n was walking down the halls by herself. she had stopped by the bathroom. before going inside, she had stopped where she had met oikawa. staring at the spot for a little while, she had spotted a wilted petal on the floor. picking it up, she put it in her pocket and headed to the bathroom.

"hey y/n. can we talk for a little bit?" iwaizumi asked, catching up to y/n.

"oh, sure." she said, caught off guard. iwaizumi nodded as they walked down the stairs. chatters from everyone else and the bell overlapped over their own voices, so they waited until they got outside by the vending machine.

"why weren't you on the rooftop with oikawa and me for lunch today?" iwaizumi asked in a tone that seemed as if he didn't know why, but he did in fact know why.

"oh, sorry about that, i was busy." y/n said, putting on a smile and rubbing the back of her head.

"i know why, you don't have to avoid him, you know." iwaizumi sighed, leaning against a wall. y/n's eyes widened a bit, as she was not expecting that response from iwaizumi.

"why would i be avoiding oikawa?" y/n asked, laughing a bit.

"i know that you like him. that's why your hanahaki is gone. oikawa likes you, that's why his hanahaki is also gone." iwaizumi said, straightening his posture and looking y/n straight in the eyes.

"just go tell him." iwaizumi said before walking off to the gym, leaving y/n standing there by herself. hesitating for a while, she had quickly walked off to the gym, trying to get there as fast as she could. and there he was, practicing his sets.

"oikawa!" y/n yelled, trying to get his attention. she had succeeded, but also had gotten everyone else's attention as well. becoming a bit flustered, she struggled to get out the next sentence.

"can we talk for a bit?" y/n said. oikawa smiled then walked over to y/n, walking further away from the gym to get some privacy. iwaizumi smiled at the two, finally watching it happen after everything.

"what did you want to talk about?" oikawa asked, crossing his arms and smirking. y/n looked at him, then decided just to let it all out.

"i really like you oikawa! i'm sorry i avoided you at lunch, i just didn't think you liked me back because i wasn't using my head and i was being dumb." y/n stumbled upon her words but had gotten her point across. oikawa's smirk grew into a wide grin.

"that was cute. i like you too, y/n. i have since the day i met you." oikawa said, pulling her into a tight hug.

"i guess i was just gradually falling in love with you each day." y/n giggled, looking up at his eyes. and for a quick fleeting moment, it was as if they were the only ones in the world as they slowly went in for a short kiss.

"we upgraded from hanahaki buddies to a couple!" oikawa cheered, while y/n shook her head in embarrassment. he promised they wouldn't die, and now, they were quite far from being dead.
