is this a date? | seven✧*̥₊˚‧☆ミ
"this is so frustrating." y/n muttered, scribbling on the corner of her paper as she stared at her homework. it was her third day of tutoring with aito.
"c'mon, just finish up this page and we can go get ice cream or something." aito tried to encourage y/n. she didn't really care for the ice cream, but she sped through the questions to get a break.
"okay, let's go! i'm ready for a break now." y/n said, cleaning up her notebooks and her stationery as aito did the same.
"you really want a break, don't you?" aito asked, smiling a bit.
"of course i do, chemistry is dumb." y/n shrugged, slinging her backpack over her shoulder. the two of them stepped out of the park grounds as they turned to the direction of the ice cream parlor.
"which flavor do you want?"
"hm, i'll [f/ice cream flavor]." y/n said, staring at the glass that covered the tubs of ice cream. aito nodded at her choice, then ordered for the both of them. the two of them had spent so much time during study sessions that it felt to them that they had been friends for a while now. maybe that was just one of aito's many talents of being able to talk to anyone, and get along nicely with them.
"here you go!" aito said, handing y/n her ice cream as he grabbed a few napkins for the two of them. they walked out of the store together, taking a stroll down the street with no destination in mind.
"do you think i'll start getting better chemistry grades?" y/n inquired, looking around at her surroundings while gradually eating her ice cream.
"i'm sure you'll do fine. to be honest, i wasn't very good at chemistry either, but a friend of mine helped me get ahead. he goes to nekoma, though." aito explained, taking a bite at his ice cream as well. you nodded, not knowing what else to say to that. well, you didn't have to say anything anyway since the next few moments were filled with you coughing up petals and small doses of blood.
"here, i grabbed a spare napkin just in case." aito rushed, handing it to y/n as she tried to cover up the petals. he knew anyway, so what was the point? a few familiar voices started fading into y/n's hearing, causing her to look up. there stood iwaizumi and oikawa. nobody said anything for a while.
"hey y/n, hey aito." iwaizumi suddenly said, breaking the slience. aito greeted him back as y/n only waved back. oikawa said nothing as he stood there, an expression on his face that y/n could not read.
"so, are you guys on a date?" iwaizumi asked, his head tilting a bit as he asked the question. oikawa's widened a bit while y/n turned a deep shade of red.
"i wouldn't say-"
"i guess you could call it that." aito interrupted her, shrugging. oikawa shifted positions uncomfortably.
"what are you guys doing here?" y/n asked, straightening her posture.
"getting milk bread." oikawa answered curtly, trying to act as normal as possible.
"of course you would get milk bread again this week." y/n said laughing a bit while trying to change the mood since she could sense the awkward tension between the four of them. oikawa couldn't help but smile at y/n's cheerful laugh. his face lightened up a bit, but was cut short by him coughing up petals.
"uh, we should go. we'll see you two later." iwaizumi said quickly as they all waved goodbye to each other and split once again.
"you must be good friends with them, y/n." aito said, throwing away his ice cream cup.
"yeah, we are. i'm glad i have them as friends." y/n said, smiling at the thought of oikawa and iwaizumi. even though she had met iwaizumi and oikawa the same year, it was like they were childhood friends.
and deep down in her heart, she would cherish that more than any joy of being with her crush, even if it meant her life was on the line.
