"He is-" I cleared my throat to stop my voice from wavering with emotion. "He was my boyfriend."
His jaw dropped. "Y-you're Y-Yoona." He pointed a finger at me, eyes wide.
I glanced at Taehyung who was trying not to burst into laughter.
"Uh, yeah." I gave him a tight-lipped smile. "And you?"
"I'm officer Park Jimin. Although I was supposed to be off duty." He came closer and extended his hand, smiling charmingly. He wasn't much taller than me unlike Taehyung. "I can't believe it's really you."
I shook his hand. "Thank you for helping me, officer. And sorry for all the trouble."
"Wow," Taehyung said dryly. "Can't believe he's getting all the credit."
I gulped, feeling guilty for causing a scene at his exhibition and then getting him punched in the face. Especially after he showed me that painting.
"And you did what, exactly?" Jimin folded his arms challenging him. "Other than getting beat up."
Taehyung pouted at his friend while I giggled at his cuteness.
"Thank you both for your help, really." I rubbed Taehyung's upper arm, encouragingly. "You should get back to the gallery. I'm very very sorry for ruining your night."
"Stop apologizing to me." Taehyung winked at me, referring to our dinner at the roof. I was mortified because of how I treated him. "You didn't ruin anything. I'm fine, so let's go."
"You can't go out there with that face." Jimin blocked his way while I nodded in agreement. "We have a first-aid kit in our car, why don't you go and clean that up first?"
"Fine, see you in five." Taehyung was out the door, shoulders slouching.
A pang of guilt grew in my chest as I saw his back getting farther away and before I could think-
"I'll come with you." I blurted out, jogging to catch up.
Taehyung and I ended up in the parking basement, sitting in his car. He was cleaning the blood with a cotton while I watched, since he refused my help.
"Does it hurt?" I asked. The red on his blue was almost satisfying. In a twisted way, it completed his look.
"Nah, it doesn't."
After the blood was cleaned off, the wound wasn't looking that bad, but the area was swollen red and purple. You could tell somebody hit him just by looking at it.
He applied an antiseptic on it and turned to me. "Does it look like I was punched?"
I pursed my lips debating whether to lie to make him feel better or be honest, but my silence was answer enough.
"I could've dodged it." He sighed in disappointment. "It's a good thing I already took pictures for the press. You know that rumor brought more attention to my exhibition."
"Well, people love gossip." I shook my head in disappointment.
"True."
Done tending to his face, he picked up all the items from his lap and placed them carefully in the first-aid box. Once they were all in, he leaned towards my side, catching me off guard. Air shifted around us, attacking me with the scent of vanilla, sandalwood and antiseptic.
He opened the glove compartment and placed the box inside.
Feeling my eyes on him, he turned sideways. There was a cute little mole on his nose. I blinked, trying to clear my head. His Adam's apple bobbed. Before I could react he moved away. I exhaled a breath I didn't knew I was holding.
