Yoona

7 days until Premiere

Unknown: I'm planning a surprise for you.

I couldn't stop staring at my phone. What surprise? Who could've sent it? I didn't have a very big line of well-wishers. Could it be a fan?

It was the second week of promotion and despite a few awkward questions about my break up, it was going better than I expected. I didn't know how they fell for my act, but they did.

My reflection in the mirror seemed anxious, but the others had no idea.

Turn the corner of your lips up. Sangin's voice echoed in my head and I smiled. Good. The smile that was carefully constructed for the cameras. Perfect curve of lips, no teeth, slightly squinted eyes. And it was glued on. If only he could carve it into my face.

The stylist was working on my hair. I fiddled with my fingers, waiting for her to finish and leave.

"Yoona-ssi, I'm a big fan of yours." She smiled while brushing my hair. No, not this again. This movie was getting so much hype. My head felt like it would burst.

"My sister is a film critique." The stylist went on. "She thinks this year also you will get best actress award."

"Thank you." Fake. Fake. Fake. She can't know. "I'm not that great." My voice wavered. "I'm sure there are better actresses."

She met my eyes through the mirror, her smile diminished. Shit! Did I give it away? Does she know? "Not in Korea." She grinned sheepishly.

I sighed internally in relief.

"Wow, that's so kind of you. Tell your sister thanks for me."

"Sure!" She chirped and started putting pins in my hair.

Once all my staff was out of earshot, I hit the call button next to Taehyung's contact. Lately, he'd been my silver thread that leads me to light when my mind is overwhelmed.

"Hey." He picked up, fairly quickly. His husky voice filled my ears. "How are you?"

"I'm-" The glued smile fell from my face. "Getting ready for the press interview."

"That doesn't really answer my question." He commented. I could imagine his face tilting; an eyebrow climbing up his forehead, questioning my aversion to a simple question.

"It doesn't?"

"Nope." He popped. "Nervous?"

"Uhuh."

"Don't worry. I saw your interview on the news yesterday. You did great!"

"Really?" I barely made it through. They were bombarding me with so many questions. Thankfully, they were instructed not to ask about my break up, so it went okay. I can't say it about today. You never know with these reporters.

"Yes, Yoona. You're a natural." He giggled. My heart fluttered at the deep vibrations. Why do compliments from him sound more believable than others?

"Thanks." I muttered. "Today's event is live, so I'm hoping I don't mess up." I heard noises in his background, some objects falling. "What's going on?"

"Oh, I-uh" He started awkwardly. "Nothing, I dropped something."

One thing about Taehyung was he needed time to construct a good excuse. It doesn't come easy to him, so if you know him, you can tell if he's lying.
