"Why... why did he hurt me? He... he's never..." I stuttered threw my tears.

"Shhhh, don't worry about it.  Mr. Thomas is taking care of him. He also said you could have the day off.  Now we're going down to the field house to see if I can make up today. Are you well enough to do that?" he asked, bringing his head down to my eye level.

"Yea... I should be fine. Don't skip practice cause of me, I'm not that important." I said, pushing away from him.

"Don't even start Kasandra, you are important, and I'm not going to argue with you about this." Logan pulled away, and kissed my forehead. He closed my door and as he walked around the front of his truck I buckled my seat belt, and wiped away my tears. Logan got in and started up his truck, then glanced my way to make sure I was ok. I was, plus I had been able to stop crying.

"I found out why he's here. Mr. Thomas was pissed off because his new junior trombone was causing problems on his first day. Sounds like you have class with him every day now." He said, pissed off as all hell. I was horrified. Band was the one place in school that I didn't have to deal with him, now it's not. And I wasn't about to drop band for him, it was my passion and my sanctuary.

"What am I going to do Logan? I've been staying away from him, but now I'm screwed." I sighed, desperate for some sort of miracle.

"No clue, but Mr. Thomas won't let anything happen to you, neither will Luna and I. Just stay as far away from him as you possibly can." Logan stated as he parked next to the field house. "Now stay here, I'll be right back." He told me as he got out. He ran up to Coach Jordan, slamming his door in the process. They talked for a bit, then went inside. Probably to talk to the head coach, Coach McMyers. I closed my eyes and laid my head back, waiting for Logan to get back. As I started to doze off I heard my door open. I tried opening my eyes as I turned my head towards the door, but they just wanted to stay shut. After a lot of effort I opened my eyes to see Logan and Coach Greg looking at me with worried eyes.

"Kasandra, we need to look at your head and arm. You hit your head pretty hard and your arm was cut open on a rock. Is that ok with you?" Logan asked gently.

"Yea sure, but you don't need to bother with my head. It's probably just a bump, it just hurts like hell." I said and reached up to feel my head. Where I hit my head was covered in something wet and sticky to the touch. I looked at my head and almost passed out. It was covered in blood. "Lo... ga... ga...n. Bl...loo..ood." I stuttered, trying to hold myself together.

"Kasandra calm down. Let me look at it." He whispred,  already looking at my head. His eyes glazed over and he opened the first-aid that they brought and grabbed gauze pads out of it and immediately pressed them against my head. I let out a hiss of pain as he pressed down on it. "Sorry, I have to stop the bleeding. When it stops I'll bandage it." He reassured me. "While I do this, can coach check your arm?"

"Yea... go... ahead..." I said, my eyes dropping closed. I wanted to stay awake, but my body said otherwise.

"Kasandra, don't fall asleep on me honey. I need you to stay awake. Please." Logan pleaded as he lightly shook me. I forced my eyes open and looked into his eyes. They where filled with concern and pure anger, and odd combination.

"Logan, don't be mad at Brandon, he was just being himself. It could have happened to anyone." I whispered, hoping to calm him down.

"No, it couldn't have happened to anyone.  He hurt you, and I have every right to be mad because I didn't help you soon enough. I should have never let you get out of the truck, or I should have walked with you. Not waited till he did anything. I'm sorry that you got hurt, I will never let it happen again." He said, putting his hand on my cheek and looking me straight in the eye. "I'm done bandaging your head, once coach is done we'll hopefully go."

"I'm done. Go ahead and take her home. You can have the day off, just make sure that she gets some liquids in her and some food. If her temperature drops or she loses color take her to the hospital. Kasandra if you have headaches and experience dizziness over the next couple of days go get checked out for a concussion." Coach Greg said as he picked up the first-aid kit. He nodded to Logan and headed back to the field where the rest of the team was warming up.

"Logan, don't miss practice because of me. I'll call my mom so she can come pick me up." I said as I got out of the truck. When my feet hit the ground darkness overtook me and I could feel my legs give out.
