The next afternoon, I entered the clearing, which by now I had become very familiar in. I prepared to tell Jack about being queen, when I realized he wasn't there.
I looked around, and began to panic, when from above I heard, "Hey Elsie." I looked up and saw him sitting in an oak tree. The same one I had hid behind when we met. I smiled, relieved. He jumped off and smiled at me, grabbing his cane, which was leaning on the side of the tree.
We sat for a moment, smiling at each other, then his expression changed to concerned. He looked at me, concentrating, then asked, "What's wrong?" I looked away and replied, "nothing." He grabbed under my chin and lifted it up to face him. "Elsa, this last month, I've learned more about you than I know about anyone, and I know when something's wrong."
I sighed and muttered, "Conceal, don't feel, don't let it show." I looked at him and said, "There's something I need to show you." He hesitated, but came, and we descended the mountains together.
Finally we reached the castle. I knew I was nervous, but Jack was shaking. Every servant who passed us made him jump. I wasn't sure why, but I decided not to ask.
We entered the castle. I looked back at him. Jack's face had a mix of fear and confusion. We continued to my room. When I had closed the doors, he asked, "What are we doing here?" I sighed and looked at Jack. "Jack, please don't freak out, but... This is my room."
He was confused for a moment, then his eyes got wide. "Wait. Are you trying to tell me you're a... a princess?" I sighed and replied. "No, I'm the queen." I looked down in shame.
When I looked up, his face was concerned. "Why wouldn't you tell me?" I said, "Well you're the only person who ever treated me normal. Like I wasn't the queen. Like I didn't have-" I stopped myself and gasped at the fact that I had almost said "ice powers". He raised an eyebrow, "Like you had what?" I hesitated. If I said, it would ruin everything. But I remembered what Anna said. He would have to find out sometime. He wouldn't hide out in the mountains forever.
"Jack, ever sine I was little, I could do something no one else can. It was amazing and beautiful, but dangerous. One day, I hurt Anna with it. I was scared to hurt her again, so I shut her out. Recently we got back our bond, when I showed her what I could do and learned to control it. Jack, I can.. Let me show you."
I took a deep breath and extended my. Hand into the air. With the flick of my wrist, a blast of snowflakes shot up into the air and floated down into us.
Jack gasped and stepped back. His eyes got wide and he pushed his back against the wall in shock. He took a minute to calm down, then mumbled, "You can make ice." I helped him up and we stood face to face. He looked deep into my eyes and grabbed my hands . Our hands where cupped together between us, when all the sudden a snowflake appeared. It floated above our hands. I thought it was mine, till we pulled our hands apart, and, expecting to see the snowflake hover above my hands, but I was confused at seeing my hands empty. Then I heard him say, "That was mine." I looked up to see the snowflake dancing around his out stretched hand.
It was my turn to gasp. "Your like me." He laughed lightly and asked, "What else can you do?"
I smiled now and stomped on the floor as a snowflake appeared underfoot. He stepped back and laughed. I laughed back (it was more of a giggle), and made a snowball in my hands. Then I shot it up in the air and it exploded into thousands of snowflakes. We both laughed.
"You're turn." I said. He held up his staff, which I had never really thought about, and hit it against the ground. Frost spread from where it had touched down. I gasped, and smiled at him.
We both looked at each other in shock. "Who are you?" He asked. I responded with a grin, "I am the snow queen." He grinned back and responded, "I'm Jack Frost." We both took a minute to process what had just been said.
"Anything else I should know about you?" He finally asked. I decided to pull off my show stopper from the night I built my ice castle, and filled my hands with glowing blue ice, and shot it at the bottom of my common dress. My dress began to glow and slowly turned into a beautiful new gown. It was white near the neck and was covered in snowflakes, and from there it slowly faded to a light blue and then a dark blue as it went down the dress.the sleeves did the same thing, fading into a blue near my wrists.
Jack looked over my new dress in awe and said, "You look amazing Elsa." I said, "Thank you. Now what about you?" He thought about it for a minute, then said, "I got it. Come here." We ran across the room and went out on the balcony. "So what did you what to show me?" He backed up, as if to get a running start. He turned to face me, and with a grin said, " This." And then he ran at the balcony and jumped off.
"Jack!" I screamed. I ran to the railing and looked down and saw nothing. Then a sharp, cold wind hit my face from below, and Jack shot up in the air past me. I gasped and took a step back. Jack could fly.
He did some flips high in the air, then floated back down near the balcony. He floated about five feet away from the railing, his feet dangling as the wind held him up.
"Come on!" Jack said, as he urged me to join him. "But I can't fly." I replied. "We'll of course not. But I've seen what you can do with ice. I'm sure you can come up with something to get you up here."
I hesitated, then grinned. I couldn't help myself. I shot my powers at the railing, and it slowly turned into compact snowflakes. With the flick of my wrists, the snowflakes all broke off and flew off into the wind. With the railing out of the way, and my new platform, I stepped off. As I did, a step made of ice appeared under my foot. I took another step, and the second stair appeared. I looked back at my door, my safe warm room, and without a second thought, I began running out into the sky.
Like the night I ran away, with each step I took, a new stair appeared under my foot, and I ran up into the sky. Jack flew next to me laughing.
We flew up together, until he swerved over to fly I front of me. He then grabbed me by the waist and lifted me up into the sky, and carried me as we flew. As he did, I quickly turned my head back to face my unfinished staircase. I flicked my wrist, and it burst into snowflakes and fell down onto the town.
I faces back forward to look up at jack carrying me under the waist. After that, I never looked back.
We flew through the sky for what felt like forever. He turned over onto his belly, then into a standing position to cradle me in his arms. We smiled at each other, but said almost no words. None were needed. I let my hand fly back and move with the wind. I let ice and snow fly out if my hand, creating an ice trail behind us, as we sailed through the night.
Finally, we arrived back at the castle. He hovered near my balcony, and said, "Your stop, my fair queen Ellie." I leaped out of his arms, and an icy staircase appeared under foot, leading to the balcony. "Thank you, my dear Jack Frost." I responded. I walked backwards, our eyes never leaving each others until I was inside the doors. I grabbed the handles, and before I closed the door, asked, "Meet me in the valley tomorrow?" He grinned back, and replied, "It's a deal."
With that I closed the doors and watched him fly off into the night.
