"I actually have an idea. It isn't a whole plan but it's a start."My eyes widened in excitement to the familiar voice. "Rosalind!" I announced before giving her a hug, aware that everyone else saw me hug the air.
"Who?" Lexington asked. I was surprised when his gaze shifted to where Rosalind stood next to me. "Oh, hello."
"Wait, you can see her?"
"You can see me?"
We spoke over each other and he just chuckled at our surprise.
"Of course, she is a Water Horse after all."
"I thought she was a girl? Not a horse?" Katrina asked.
"Water Horses are a race of shape shifting elemental wielders. They can shift into a winged-horse form but many of them permanently stayed in that form, losing touch with their humanity and becoming wild beasts. Some however, are still humanoid or have been domesticated and have found their true form once again."
"What happened to them?" I asked.
"Another race destroyed by the Celestials poor care, I'm afraid."
"Can we stop getting side tracked? We need to focus here!" To my surprise, it was Kane who interrupted us this time. I was surprised to find guilt in his eyes.
I wondered why he felt so uncomfortable but I didn't have time to find out. He was right about one thing. We weren't focused. We were all too intrigued by our newcomer. It was all too much to take in so quickly. Maybe he felt overwhelmed too, but I knew that wasn't the case.
"Rosalind says she has an idea." I announced before prompting her to continue.
"Yes, and I know where the Oblivian's base is. It's in Doyle, but far away from the Institute was."
"We can work with that."
"But it's basically impenetrable. They have an illusion wielder."
"What makes an illusion wielder so dangerous?" I asked aloud and the others heard me.
"I've met her. It's their commander. She's not that powerful." Claire answered.
"You told me yourself that you didn't think she was the source of the power. Whoever is must be very powerful." Peter added.
"I guess, but-"
"When did you fight the Oblivians, Claire? And further more, wen did you two talk about is?" Katrina interrupted, stunned.
Claire's eyes widened as memories from that horrid day flashed into her mind. "With father..." She squeaked.
"That's how..." Katrina didn't even have to finish her question. She already knew the answer. "How could you! How could you be so reckless?! None of you had powers! What were you thinking?"
"Oh, don't even start! How could you take mother's side over your own sister?"
I remembered how upset her mother was when we were at her house. Maybe her mother had reason to be protective.
"That's not fair. I took your side when I thought you were fighting other Divines. Not Oblivians. There's a huge difference!"
"Stop! Okay? I learned my lesson!" She said with tears in her eyes. "You don't have to worry about the Divine Shadows doing anything again."
"Why?" Katrina asked.
"Because they're... They're dead, okay?! It's my fault! It's all my fault! We were fed false intel and it lead them all to their deaths... Dad and I are only alive because of Peter."
