"What? Did you both lose your fight now that I caught your little cat friend?" Lydia taunted. Her grip tightened on Katrina's throat. Her body seized in pain and my heart wrenched.
My heart seized. It was like I could feel her pain. Lydia was trying to get me to act rashly and it worked but not how she hoped it would.
"Now!" I yelled, sending a wave of lightning through the ground with a mighty stomp, the ground giving way into a black pit, framed with blue sparks.
I was hoping that Peter's instincts would kick in and that he would see what would need o be done while I got in position.
I used my lightning to propel myself to the ceiling where I prepared myself for the coming fight.
Peter opened a portal below Katrina and a separate one underneath Lydia. I rebuild the floor and in an instant it is exactly like it was before, like nothing even happened.
Peter and Katrina appeared at the far end of the hall and I prepare myself for Lydia's arrival when her portal opens upside down so her momentum from falling causes her to crash into the ceiling. I catch in a net of the lightning that is holding me to the ceiling like my own personal gravity.
"I can take care of this. Go! Warn the Divines! Lydia's troops are coming for them!" I commanded to Peter and Katrina.
Peter did as I said, at least I thought he did. He opened the portal but closed it after Katrina disappeared into it.
"What are you dong?" I asked in shock.
"I'm not going to let you face this alone. You promised you wouldn't do this alone anymore." He replied.
He was right but, "I'm trying yo protect you!"
"You're not responsible for my choices. Besides, if you're so busy protecting everyone, who's going to take care of you?"
"But Peter-"
"I'm staying. This is my choice."
I sighed, but a part of me was relieved by his stubbornness. "Thank you."
I turned my full attention towards Lydia, my anger rekindling. I sends a shower of lightning at her over and over but she uses her flames to protect herself. They aren't as strong as my lightning, which could cut right through her fire, but it me from delivering ant any fatal blows.
After over a minute of bombarding her with ceaseless lightning, I felt my body tiring. I thought Lydia would feel the same but she seemed to be waiting as I held her back to the ceiling.
Her eyes met mine, alight with golden tones as heat radiated from her skin. She gave me a terror-ensuing grin before unleashing her Blood Sword which cut through my lightning like it was no more than an annoyance.
I fell to the ground, taking a moment to regain my balance. My powers were temporarily disabled. I felt like I was missing a sense without them.
By the time my I looked up, Lydia was on top of me, sword drawn. Arms surrounded me, pulling me backwards. Before my senses could register what had happened, I found myself meters down the hall, Peter towering over me.
He smiled down at me, and I almost missed the flicker of green in his eyes before they returned to brown. I could clearly see the worry in his eyes.
"Peter," I whispered, knowing what he was risking everything for me.
"Don't," he said, stopping me. "I already know what you are going to say and we don't have time for another debate."
"I just wanted to say, thank you."
