Everything is going smoothly. I guess.

I glance at my partner.

I know I'm not supposed to talk because Lexington is already using two abilities and a third to hear me might make him lose focus and jeopardize everything. That being said... this silence is killing me.

It's way too awkward. That and I am dying to do a Celeste impersonation. I saw my reflection in a window earlier and I do look exactly like her. It's kind of strange. I am so used to not having a reflection in this world and to look like someone else for that matter.

Although, it would be more fun to impersonate Ashton but that would be ill advised. I find that intense people are the easiest to make fun of.

I should be taking this more seriously and I am but the more nervous I get, the more I goof off as a way to calm myself down. It has always gotten me in trouble because no one has ever thought that I take things seriously.

"Pay attention." I heard Zagan's voice in my head.

That brings me back to my days training for the royal guard.

I would always try to be quiet but I just couldn't stop laughing and neither could Azael. He was my best friend. Well, was...

I was training to be Celeste's guardian and he was training to be Ashton's and just like them, we were always close. We don't look anything like the twins, though. My hair is a darker brown than Celeste and my skin is a shade darker. Azael, on the other hand has bright blue eyes and auburn hair.

It was unusual for us to have never met the Celestial, or in this case, Divine that we were guardians over but our bond was the same. We were born on the same day as the twins so our entities have a bond which means we were destined for this honor since birth. After the devastation of the Safe Haven, our kind went into hiding. Many of us went feral, losing our human forms but those who remained are still loyal to the Celestials and that meant continuing to train the royal guard.

We were always scheming something growing up but that all changed the day we tried to rescue Ingrid. Ingrid's guardian, Kagan, lead the charge. Azael and I made sure to stick close to each other as we approached the fortress.

The Oblivian's were hidden in their own dimension. A single floating island of land was all that inhabited the empty void besides a few stars that served as light. The fortress was made from a dark grey stone and a black mist cascaded down its walls and crawled upon the ground.

Outside the gates of the fortress sat the town square, which was full of bustling townsfolk and guards were posted everywhere. They were covered in black armor and armed with Star Sabers.

Thankfully, we didn't have to venture near the front gate. Because of Kagan's connection to Ingrid, he already knew where she was. She was being held in a cell on the top floor near the back of the compound.

"Why don't we just disguise ourselves as guards?" I offered to Kagan because one of our abilities is shapeshifting.

"And what? Just waltz right in?" Azael countered.

I shrugged. "You got a better idea?" I asked him.

"Actually, I do," Kagan said, interrupting our petty squabble. He continued. "If we disguise ourselves, we will be discovered. The Oblivian Emperor is the king of illusion so no deception will get past him. Our best bet is to be stealthy. Why do you think I only brought you two?"

"Well, I was hoping it was because you have confidence in our skills but I could be wrong." I replied.

Kagan rolled his eyes. "There's always such attitude with you two."
