Chapter Six (II)
Even Kings Have Off-Days

Word Count: 1.5k

A horn was blown, signaling the return of the fighters. Lucy ran out to watch as they trudged back, defeated.

"What happened?" She asked, noticing the solemn expression on her brother's face.

Peter glanced at Caspian, clearly not happy. "Ask him."

This opened a fight between the King and the Prince. They went at each other throats, both verbally and literally. No one tried to get between them.

"Stop it!" He yelled, canceling the fight. The attention went towards Glenstorm as he set Trumpkin's body on the ground.

Lucy ran over with her healing cordial, dripping a drop in his mouth. It wasn't too late for him, as he gasped awake.

She smiled and looked around at everyone, frowning for a second. "Where's Melody?"

Everyone looked around at each other, not noticing she hadn't been with them. The one hit hardest by this realization was Peter.

"Your Majesties..." The centaur walked up from the back, carrying Melody's limp body on his back. Her dress had been soaked by the blood that seeped from her shoulder and leg.

Peter and Edmund rushed over as they took her from his back and laid her down on the ground. Peter sat on the ground, letting Melody's head rest on his lap. Lucy moved so she could drop some of the liquid in her mouth.

It felt like forever until Melody gasped for air, coughing a little. Slowly her eyes fluttered open. The first person she saw was Peter. He looked as if he let out a breath he was holding in.

She sat up, thankful for the pain she felt to be gone. As quick as she was up, she was engulfed in his arms. She relaxed and wrapped her arms around him. Taking deep breaths, she repeated to herself that she was okay and he was okay.

After a moment he let go of her and she stood up. With his help of course. She looked at Lucy and hugged the girl. "Thank you, Lu."

Melody didn't hear what she said, as she saw Caspian glance at her before entering the How, Nikabrik following him closely. Too closely. She made a mental note to remember that.

Peter put a hand on her arm. "Sorry, Lu. But I need to talk to her for a moment."

"Yeah and apologize," Susan whispered to him, earning a glare from him.

Peter led Melody inside and to their room. She didn't think that was the best spot since they had a fight there before, but it was probably the most private place for them.

Before either of them could say a single word, his lips were smashed onto hers. His hands found their way to her waist and hers were on his cheeks.

The kiss was a passionate one, more so than when they first saw each other in months. More so than their first kiss. They both had almost lost each other, and they weren't ever going to let that happen again.

It took forever for them to pull apart. They didn't care if they needed air.

Melody softly caressed Peter's cheeks as she started to speak. "You were right. You're always right. And I was bloody stupid for not listening to you. And it's my fault you almost-"

She cut him off with a small peck. "Stop. Don't blame yourself like that. I knew what I was doing. I shouldn't have been that hard on you."

He shook his head. "You had every right to be hard on me."
