As a 17 year old, doctor in training, you were sent to Coruscant to finish your studies in the Jedi Halls of Healing. You have been there about three months or so. Your talents and 1quick learning made you one of the most successful and well known doctors in training, in the GAR. You were also known for your friendly attitude and many people loved to have your company. Although you made acquaintances with most people, you found yourself more acquainted with the clones.
Aside from your many friends, you were the closest to the Coruscant Guards. Almost every evening after your classes, you hang out with them. You had lunch and tea breaks together, and they even invite you over to 79's, even if you don't indulge in the alcohol. That being said, a certain commander found himself as your best friend.
"...so that is why you need to disinfect the wound." You explained to your teacher as you concluded your presentation. "Very good." They praised you. "You've come a long way and if you continue this way, you'd make a great doctor in no time." After being dismissed, you headed off for your tea break.
You stopped by your favourite cafe and ordered a flat white, for yourself, and a latte for your friend. Then you bought four chocolate doughnuts, four tuna sandwiches and of course two meloruns. Then, you headed off to your personal picnic area.
‐------
" 'Bout time you showed up." "Sorry. Class finished late today." You replied as you walked up to none other than Commander Fox. You flashed him a smile "Thanks for waiting, and can we sit down, I just ran to the cafe and successfully speed walked here without spilling our drinks, so my legs are killing me." Fox chuckled and took the bag of food you bought.
Once the both of you set your picnic space, you ate and indulged in the sweet foods and the beautiful Coruscanti sunset. "So, how did your presentation go?" Fox asked before taking a bite out of the sandwich. "Not bad, honestly." You muffled a replied, mouthful of food. "I think I wouldn't have done as well if you and the guys didn't help me to prepare." Fox looked back at you and shrugged. "Kid " He sighed. "We merely gave you moral support. Most of this was your achievement. I'm proud of you."
Your cheeks warmed. Fox was not known to be soft around others, so when he complimented you, you couldn't help but feel pride bloom in yourself. "Y/n, let me tell you something." He said, placing his coffee cup on the ground. "Everything I ever knew since I existed was war and politics. I, or any of my brothers, never got the chance to chase after our dreams." You tilted your head towards the commander. He had a distant look in eye, yet it held a hint of happiness. Not knowing what to say, you decided to let Fox continue. "I had a dream." He spoke quietly, laying back on the grass. " What was it?" you asked innocently, joining him on the ground. "Now I'll be frank, I never really had much of a life. Coruscant is an amazing planet, but when you work at the prisons most of the time, and run errands for the Chancellor, you life is pretty much taken away." 'Freedom' you thought to yourself. "I thought, that when the was is over, I'd settle down in at a country side, surrounded by majestic mountains and roaring rivers."
"I imagined having a family of my own. Maybe a couple of kids running around." he chuckled. "Who knows, a farm of my own?" he smiled. You could hear the happiness in his voice, just talking about his dream. "Your dream sounds lovely." you said, looking forward to the light pinkish-orangish sky. "Peace and quiet, right." you sighed. "Yeah, peace and quiet." Fox replied. "But, of course, my brothers would have to be there. Trust me, they are annoying as kriff and give me a real headache, but when you spend most of your time around dikuuts like those, your life will never be complete without them."
Now, you knew that, although Fox always put on a harsh exterior while working, he was a softy for his brothers and cared for them deeply, not to mention, very loyal to the Chancellor and his works, but when he mentioned to have his brothers with him in a possible peaceful future, but had not mentioned you, you could not help but feel sad. Fox noticed your sudden change in mood. He propped himself on an elbow and looked to you and noticed a soft frown on your face. "Y/n, you've been quiet for a while.." he hummed. You didn't reply. "Y/n?" Fox cooed. This got your attention and you looked at him. "You alright, kid?" Fox asked with care, sitting up. You noticed the genuine confusion in Fox, and decided best to tell him. You knew he'd understand. He would, wouldn't he?
Fox tilted his head, encouraging you to speak. "Your dream is really sweet." you said as you sat up. "But..." Fox questioned. You looked at him and he was not backing down, so you drew in a deep breath and spoke your heart out. "It's just, I want you to be able to achieve your dream, and trust me, you deserve it. A peaceful life, with your own family and with your brothers." you slowed down. Fox kept quiet letting you speak at your own pace. "I just...thought I'd might be a part of it." you mumbled. "What?" Fox didn't quiet catch your mumble. You rolled your eyes, and groaned. "I said....I thought I...might be..a part of it." Your gaze lowered to the grass. You felt ashamed and selfish. "Y/n.. I-" "I KNOW I KNOW!" you cut Fox off. "I know its your dream, its your right. I mean, you work so hard and the republic does not even reward you properly." "But, Y/n..-" "And i know have the right to chose your future. I know and am very aware that I am being selfish and immature and just..SELFISH! ,but after all this time knowing you, you became like a brother to me. I just...I just thought I'd be a part of it." Throughout the whole rant, you tried to keep a strong face, but near the end your voice cracked, and you were sure that Fox heard it, because the next thing he did was looking you in the eye to make a very serious point.
"Ok, Y/n, listen." Fox looked you square in the eyes you thought he scold you. "Y/n, listen very carefully." He called out, gently but with seriousness laced in his voice. "I would never think of having my future without you in it." you eyes began to sting with tears. "Kid, you impact my life so much, you make me happy to be alive when you became my friend. The boys feel the same way, ya'know." He moved to sit up on his knees. A tear fell down your face. Fox chuckled and wiped it away with a tissue. "Y/n, you are very much my family and I would not want my children growing up without their special (aunt/uncle). Kid, don't ever think that your now part of my family." Fox stopped, letting you digest everything he said. "Now, can you smile kiddo? Please?" He gave you a ruffle in your hair. "Aww come on." He started to make puppy dog eyes. You would admit, puppy dogs eyes never looked stranger on a person who was known for his legendary 24/7 sulking, but it made you crack a small laugh non the less. "There ya go." Fox let out a satisfied hum and reached for his coffee and handed yours to you.
"To future family coffee picnics " He raised his cup. "To future family coffee picnics." You said with a new found spark within you, knowing you would see more of grumpy Fox in the future.
