Chapter 16

"oh my god!" You let out a groan and let go of the canoe. All the other students joined her and dropped onto the ground. Everybody had to help to carry the canoe to the lake in the burning heat. They weren't light either. After half an hour, they arrived at the lake and half of them didn't want to go canoeing anymore.

"Good job everyone!" The green leader panted. V sat beside you. His entire shirt was drenched in sweat. "You still excited?" he laughed and nudged you. You nodded, "of course!". You watched as green leaders started counting how many students they were. Another leader was uploading all the lifejackets from a bag he was carrying onto the ground. When everything was ready, Dae clapped his hands and everyone stood up.

"So the number of students on the white team is uneven, so one group will have 3 people." Dae said. Immediately, whispers filled the air. the students were already choosing their partners.

"BUT! i will be choosing who your partner is." Dae interrupted. Everybody started complaining and Dae clapped his hands again, "Stop it, you guys will love it okay?"

you had your blank face on. you already knew who Dae is going to partner you with.

"So, Suga and Hye su will be our first partner!" he cried. you weren't even surprised but Suga is. He stiiffened and gave Dae a look. Oblivious , Dae already smiled at him and gave him a thumbs up.

"Grab a life jacket over there and choose a canoe and wait." Dae instructed before he continued partnering people up.

"Go." V whispered and pushed you towards Suga who was already standing by one of the canoes. You grumbled before walking towards him. Your footsteps were heavy. You weren't so excited anymore.

"Are you not going to get a life jacket." Suga said not even making eye contact with you. "I'll get it later." You replied. The two of you stood awkwardly next to each other and waited for Dae to finish.

Suga rocked back and forth on his feet. He stole quick glances at you and felt a little pang in his heart. But just Hy, he was stubborn.

Once Dae assigned everybody to their canoes, you noticed that there was only one life jacket left. You left Suga at their canoe to go get it. At the same time, KyungMi crouched down to grab it too.

"Oh, Hy." KyungMi smiled. You straightened your back, "you need a life jacket?" You asked.

KyungMi rubbed the back of her neck, "yeah, but you can have it."

"Can you swim?" You asked raising a brow. KyungMi blushed and shook her head. You forced a smile and gently kicked the life jacket towards her, "Take it."

KyungMi looked at you, "Are you sure?" You nodded before going back to Suga. Little did she know, Suga watched her. Surprisingly, he wasn't looking at KyungMi, he was watching you.

"Where's your life jacket?" He asked seeing KyungMi walk away with it.

You shrugged, " I can swim." Truth was, you couldn't swim. But you weren't worried.

"Alright then." Suga yawned and picked the canoe up with you before bringing it to the lake.
