LOUD knocking on the door woke Miki up with a jolt.
She was sprawled across one of the couches, and immediately became aware of a weight pressing against her chest.
After lifting her head up to stare down at what was on top of her, she smiled with relief.
Hyun Jae was still sleeping soundly.
She heard the shuffle of Wooyoung's slippers as he left his study and moved to the entryway.
He unlocked the door and was instantly greeted with a booming voice: "Where's my son?!"
Miki held in a chuckle as she heard Wooyoung's frantic shhh's.
"Can you calm down?" The front door closed. "They're asleep in the living room. Want a drink first?"
"'They?' Do I have another child I don't know of?" Yunho responded, and two sets of footsteps tapped their way towards the kitchen.
She heard the fridge door open, and soon after came the sss of a can being opened.
"Miki spent most of the day playing with Jae, so at least give her some rest as well—ay, what's with the face?"
"Look at you, being all soft." Yunho replied, and a chair scraped backwards. "I'll take Jae off your hands so that your missus can get some proper sleep."
His tone had shifted to a teasing one, and judging by his grunt of pain afterwards, Wooyoung had most likely given him payback.
"No, but really," Yunho chuckled, and the two sets of footsteps headed in the direction of the living room. "We've noticed you two have become closer recently. It's a good thing."
The glass separator slid open and Miki quickly shut her eyes, feigning sleep.
"Aw, both knocked out. Poor things." Yunho quickly scooped up his son and gathered his belongings.
She heard Wooyoung's tired sigh. "He was a handful, but... I guess he can visit again."
Yunho whispered something too low for Miki to hear.
"Alright, piss off now." replied Wooyoung in an annoyed tone, and Yunho's laughter trailed down the hallway as he made his exit.
"Tell Miki thank you for me!"
"Yeah, yeah." The front door clicked shut.
Slow, careful footsteps made their way back to the living room, and Miki found her mind was filled with questions. Had they really become closer over the past few months...? Surely not.
She suddenly became aware of a presence beside her.
A soft hand brushed hair off of her forehead, and she prayed he didn't notice her sharp intake of breath. "Well done today," Wooyoung whispered.
As he settled on the opposite couch, Miki had a feeling she knew the answer.
