Johnathans's POV
Two weeks later.

How big is New York that you can't find one woman, just one freaking pregnant woman! Roman yelled.

He has been at it for some time now. Yelling and waving his gun around at us, threatening to kill all of us. It's been a mess.

I ask you to do one simple task, find Kalani and bring her back home, what do y'all do? Y'all sit around playing god damn video games and-

Sir we were just-

And bang.

Everyone in the room got startled. The sound of the shot being fired kept the echo in the room. When we looked at Santana, he was dead. And I was sure of that.

I dare one more person to talk while I'm still talking. he snarled.

At that point, I don't think anyone would want to say anything. Whether it was information that could help or not, at this point, everyone was quite.

Roman has been a rack ever since Kalani went missing. He barely shaved and god he was reeking of alcohol. The only thing he was worried about was Kalani and those babies. You could see it in his eyes and his face. No matter what he would say, he cared and there was nothing he could do to change that.

After the meeting I followed him back to the house and all the guys left. He went to pour some whiskey and I stopped him.

I do have a high tolerance of alcohol you know that right? he said.

Yea I do, but I also know that you need to shave and take a shower. Dominic, you need to get your shit together. There are documents at the office that need your personal attention and there are meetings that I can't handle alone. I know you wanna find them but you have to work man. This is your life. I tried reasoning with him.

Life? he smiled. What life do I have if it's without them? What life are you talking about? It's been two weeks Johnathan. Two freaking weeks! he yelled. Do you think she is ok, are my babies ok, is she having enough sleep and food, are they keeping her ok, is she comfortable?

And I looked down. I couldn't answer that because I really didn't know what to say.

Do you think I should be ok while she isn't? While I don't know if she is ok?, Do you think I'm deserving of a shower if she isn't having one, am deserving of food, if she hasn't eaten? Do you think I deserve that? am deserving to do work, while piles of assignments and tests await her?

No... But Dominic you have to understand that-

There is nothing to understand! he yelled. She's is not home and all I want to bring her back home. he looked up, trying to clear the tears that started forming in his eyes. He then started walking around.

Johnathan have you ever done wrong by someone? Really hurt them and you never got the chance to say sorry??? And every single night you keep saying you sorry hoping that they hear you, hoping that they forgive you?  he whispered.

No. I said looking down. I knew he was broken, but I didn't think it was this bad.

He then smiled at me and said, That's ok, I hope you never hurt someone to that extent. his phone then rang and you could see in a way there was a certain glimpse of hope in his eyes.

Roman's POV
Sir we have found something." Julius said the moment I picked up the call.
" The hit sir, it wasn't meant for you. It was meant for Kalani so the father would give back Mr Steffano's shipment."

" But isn't he a cop or something?" I asked.

" He is sir. But he went undercover to take Steffano down and when he got all the evidence, Steffano knew about the daughter and wanted her as bait. But since you had her under surveillance, it was hard to get to her. And they are the ones who got Miss Kalani drugged. They tried taking her there but you got to her first. And after that, they have been trying to get to her and on the day of the incident, it was the only time they could get her. Even if it meant hurting you."

"So I was the collateral damage huh?" I said walking around.

"Yes sir."

"Ok thank you." I then switched off the phone and took my coat. Johnathan didn't even ask where we were going because he knew I was probably going to tell him along the way. He just cocked his gun and was ready to fire.

"You not gonna need that where we going." I said pointing at the gun.

"So you actually not gonna shoot anyone, I'm proud of you." He smiled.

"We visiting my in-laws, and they are the taskforce. And unless you wanna sleep in jail, you more than welcome."

"What?! But why we going to see him?"

But before I could answer, my phone rang and it was my mother's doctor. I hurriedly picked it up and everything just stopped after that.

"She's in intensive care fighting for her life."

I don't think things could have gotten anymore worse than that. I ran towards my car and the moment Johnathan got in, I drove.

"We taking a detour." I said as I was speeding the car.

"Yea, a detour to death you mean? Man slow down, you gonna get us killed." He said holding on to the sit belt and door.

"Mother is in hospital, intensive care that is. Fighting for her life. I don't know what happened so don't ask."

After that he just kept quiet and I drove silently. Although sometimes we didn't get along, she wasn't a bad mother. She was kind and loving and everything a mother could be. And just thinking about that made my eyes well up with tears.

I was never one to cry, but when everything and everyone you love start disappearing and leaving, it hurts and I can't lose my mother. Not while I haven't found Kalani.

"Do you want me to drive?" Johnathan offered.

"No I'm fine."

"Yea keep saying you fine until we-" before he finished that sentence, the only I remember was a hooter from a truck crashing into our car.
