Although a lot of the siblings were now living under one roof again, Lucy didn't want to force herself onto them, since they all had their own lives.
But when Lucy heard raised voices downstairs, she felt that she had no choice but to interfere.
Unfortunately she wasn't the only one with this intention, because when she arrived at the place of the shouting, Vanya was already there.
Lucy looked at the telephone which hung on the wall, and saw that Allison had just finished talking to someone.

"Your ex-husband sounds like a bit of a jerk" commented Vanya quietly.
"Yeah, he is" sighed Allison.
"What's he done now?" Asked Lucy as she made her way down the last few steps to join her sisters.
"He wouldn't let me talk to Claire. He said that since I missed my session with her yesterday, I don't deserve to speak to her" revealed Allison.
"But yesterday was dad's funeral. You have a good reason for not being there"
"That's what I told him. But he just hung up on me".

"Maybe it's good that you're here with us, instead of being with him. Perhaps being apart will help you heal" suggested Vanya.
"No, I need to be with my daughter!" replied Allison angrily.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean-"
"Why am I even talking about this with you. You're the last person in the world who I should be talking to right now" interrupted Allison.
"Why's that?"
"Because you don't have a daughter. You don't know what it's like to love someone unconditionally. When you love someone like that, it hurts when you're apart from them. And you would die for them, quite literally die, if it meant that they were happy and healthy. You don't know what that's like".

"No. I don't" mumbled Vanya.
"I know. Because you've never even been in a relationship before. You distance yourself from everyone and everything, you always have" admitted Allison.
"Yeah because dad made me" reminded Vanya.
"Did dad make you write that book about us too?".
There was silence in the corridor, as no one seemed to know what to say.
The girls had been close as children, but as they became teens, Vanya started getting left out, because she didn't have powers like the others.
And after the deaths of two of their sisters, Allison and Lucy were never the same again.

"You're an adult now Vanya, you don't get to blame your problems on anyone but yourself" Allison said quietly.
Vanya lowered her head in shame, which made Lucy feel really sorry for her.
"Allison, you need to put that book behind you. Vanya has apologised for it a hundred times, and she wrote it over 4 years ago, so you need to get over it" announced Lucy.
Vanya's eyes widened in shock as Lucy defended her.
"I don't know why you're on her side, especially when she told the whole world how Ben died, basically calling you a murderer. Or have you forgotten that?" Questioned Allison.

"I said I was sorry for doing that. I never should have written about you all" admitted Vanya.
"Yes, well it's too late for you take it back. You can't undo what you did, anymore than I can un-rumour someone" replied Allison.
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry that I hurt you all"
"Sorry doesn't mean anything, when you weren't sorry at the time".
"Stop it you two please, you're as bad as Diego and Luther. Fighting isn't the answer, and at our age, you should have grown out of it by now" admitted Lucy.

"You're right. We are not children any more, so we have no need to bicker and squabble. So I'm going to my room" announced Allison.
Without waiting for the others to respond, Allison pushed past them and made her way towards her bedroom.
"Thanks for trying" mumbled Vanya.
"Don't mention it" replied Lucy.
"O.K... You know, I still don't understand why they gave Patrick custody of Claire in the first place. Why didn't Allison get it?"
"It's a long story"
"So there is an actual reason?"
"Yes. But I'm not going to tell you, so don't ask again. You'll have to talk to Allison about it when she's in a better mood. It's her business and I'm not going to talk about her behind her back".

"Alright... I guess our thoughts are safe now though, since Ella isn't here to invade our minds and spill our secrets" admitted Vanya.
"No she's not. I remember one time when we didn't talk to her for weeks after she read our minds and told the boys something we didn't want them to know" replied Lucy.
"Yeah, and we only agreed to talk to her once she promised never to invade our minds again"
"Looking back on it, I feel bad about how we treated her. She didn't choose to read minds, and sometimes she couldn't always control it. But when we were kids we didn't think about that, we just distanced ourselves from her, to stop her from trying to read her minds. So maybe we're the ones that lead her to drink. She drunk, because she couldn't hear peoples thoughts while intoxicated. But perhaps if we hadn't pushed her out, she wouldn't have turned to drink".

"I think she would've turned to drink even if were nice to her about her power. She didn't drink because we were mean to her. She drunk because she couldn't deal with the things she heard in other peoples head. It all became to much for her" Vanya sighed sadly.
"I guess that's true. And now I'm just scared that Klaus is going to end up like Ella" revealed Lucy.
"I don't think he will. He prefers getting high, to drinking. And I happen to know that he is broke right now, so he won't be doing either for a while"
"Well that is good news"
"Yes... Anyway I'd better get back, I have lessons to teach"
"Alright. Have fun"
"I will, and I'll see you soon".
