Not long after switching lanes, Lucy watched as a large middle aged lady and her son approached Lucy's brothers.
"Hey, it's my son Kenny's birthday today, and we wondered if you would prefer playing with kids your own age. As long as that's O.K with you 2 dads?" Asked the woman.
Five looked so angry that Lucy thought he might actually attack the woman.
Meanwhile Klaus and Diego looked shocked at being called Five's dads, since Five was actually older than both of them."I would rather chew off my own foot" spat Five, making the woman usher her son away rather quickly.
"If I were to date a guy, it certainly wouldn't be you" admitted Diego to Klaus, as Five walked away from the group.
"You'd be lucky to have me" replied Klaus, before making his way over to Lucy.
"I don't want to talk to you right now" mumbled Lucy, as Klaus sat down opposite her.
"I know you think I was lying about Ben. But I wasn't. I really can see him" insisted Klaus.
"Please, just stop. You of all people should understand why I can't talk about Ben. So please just drop it" begged Lucy."I swear to you on my life, that I'm not lying... Look, on the day of Ben's funeral I summoned him, and he's been by my side ever since. That was probably the last time I was actually sober until now, because I haven't been able to summon anyone successfully since then. Except for when Hazel and Cha-Cha were torturing me" revealed Klaus.
"What about Ella and Yasmin? Didn't you ever try bringing them back?" Questioned Lucy, still not believing Klaus.
"No, I didn't. Ella wasn't happy when she died, so I didn't think she would want to be brought back. And Yas went all power crazy before she died, so I didn't want to bring her back either. I was also too intoxicated at the time to try summoning either of them" admitted Klaus."If you're telling the truth, then does that mean Ben has been watching us ever since, by your side, and that he's here now?" Asked Lucy.
Klaus looked at an empty space beside them, before sighing and nodding his head.
"He's been here all along. It's kind of annoying really, since I never get to be alone" admitted Klaus.
"And you never thought to mention this before now?" Questioned Lucy.
"Would you have believed me?"
"I'm not sure I believe you now"
"I know you've got no reason to trust me, since I haven't exactly been the most reliable person ever. But I promise you that I'm not lying about Ben"."You said that he hit you, and was able to save Diego. If he's dead, how did he do that?" Quizzed Lucy.
"I don't know. He said I was the one who did it, and when I spoke to dad he did say I have a lot of potential. So maybe I've never been able to do it before, because I wasn't sober" admitted Klaus.
"That's a pretty big if"
"I know. But I hoped you would be able to understand, better than the others"
"Why me?"
"Because you can push your consciousness out of you, and give it a physical form, which is similar to what I did with Ben"
"I guess it is"."Did you know it was something you could do, before you tried it?" Questioned Klaus.
"No, not really. Dad just kept pushing me and pushing me. And the more I pushed, the more I discovered I could do" answered Lucy.
"I guess I just have to keep pushing then" sighed Klaus.
"Yes... Does Ben ever talk to you?"
"All the time. It's like having this annoying voice inside my head that doesn't shut up"
"Does he ever talk about what happened on the day he died?"
"He did at first. But he hasn't talked about it recently"."Is he still angry with me, after all these years?" Asked Lucy quietly.
Klaus shook his head and dropped down to his knees, taking Lucy's hands in his.
"Ben never blamed you for his death. He chose to risk his life to save you, and that is something he never regretted doing. And he hates how you've been blaming yourself ever since then. Because it was not your fault" insisted Klaus.
Lucy began to cry, "But it was though".
"No it wasn't. Ben made his choice. He isn't angry with you, and he certainly doesn't blame you for his death. The only thing he wants, is for you to forgive yourself" replied Klaus."It's hard to forgive yourself when everyone else still holds it against you" admitted Lucy, as she forced herself to stop crying.
"Well I certainly don't think Ben's death was your fault, and I don't think Allison does either. Maybe Diego was mad at you when it happened, but he's been super nice to you since you busted him out of jail, so I think he's forgiven you. And Five wasn't even here when it happened, so he doesn't blame you either. That means that Luther is the only one who might. But don't listen to him. If Ben doesn't blame you, then you should listen to him and not Luther, since he is the one who died" announced Klaus."I guess this explains why you never held what happened against me as much as everyone else. I thought you would be the one who hated me most, because you were closest to Ben. But you moved on first, because you've had Ben with you all this time" admitted Lucy.
"Yeah, well Ben told me not to be angry at you, and to not blame you for his death. So I stopped being mad" replied Klaus.
"Thank you for telling me about Ben"
"You're welcome"."How about a few games of bowling, while we wait for Luther and Allison to return? It might also keep the staff off our backs, if they see us actually bowling. And we might even have some fun, on what could be our last night alive" Suggested Lucy, as she looked over at the lanes beside them.
"As long as you don't get too upset when I beat you" grinned Klaus.
"In your dreams Klaus. We all know I'm the superior bowler" teased Lucy.
"We'll see" replied Klaus.
