Part 1, Episode 3: The Appearance Effect

Jay POV

Some people applauded for Dirty Candy as the bell rang, "See you all next week..make sure to have a costume and a partner to sing for next week Extra Credit Duets.." people left as I walked out with Julie and Flynn.

"So who is ready for Duet Extra Credit week," Julie seemed excited as I smiled, "what do you do during this 'Extra Credit Duet Week'?"

"Basically make a song together with someone and design or buy costumes for attention and for the extra credit part. Last year me and Flynn won by singing Queens Of Both Worlds. Wanna hear it?" I nodded since why not.

I get on with my life as if i am a queen,
I'm a unique kind person.
I like to sing songs and dance along.
I like to contemplate the living.
But when I start to daydream,
My mind turns straight to the dead.

Sometimes I look at myself and I look into my eyes,
I notice the way I think about the dead with a smile,
Curved lips I just can't disguise.
But I think it's the living that makes my life worthwhile.
Why is it so hard for me to decide which I love more?
The Living or...
The Dead?

I like to use words like 'wicked' and 'victory.'
I like to use words about the living.
But when I stop my talking,
My mind turns straight to the dead.

We hate liars that aren't living
and trick us since we ain't that dead.
But I just think back to the dead folks,
And I'm happy once again feeling happy for them.

I applauded them as they laughed, "So who is your partner this year.." I asked as she said Flynn but Flynn said she was doing it with Nick, "so that means..well I mean..do you want to be partners?", "Sure. I am already auditioning for your band, what can hurt more to hangout more with you."

She smiled as I sly smiled at her. "Okay great. Well after physical education, meet me by the janitor closet and I'll introduce you to the band and they can check you out." I nodded and left to my other 'class', but instead of going to the 'class', I decided to ditch.

Julie POV

After he applauded for us, we all laughed, "So who is your partner this year.." He asked as I mentioned Flynn but Flynn said she was doing it with Nick, I laughed nervously.

"Okay umm..so that means..well I mean..do you want to be partners?", "sure. I am already auditioning for your band, what can hurt more to hangout more with you."

I smiled, "Okay great. Well after physical education, meet me by the janitor closet and I'll introduce you to the band and they can check you out." He nodded and left as I pulled Flynn aside, "since when did you pick Nick to be your partner.."

I asked her, "Since that new kid is checking you out girlfriend. Just like when Luke was when you two sang 'EDGE OF GREAT'." I laughed as the boys appeared, "So any luck with finding a singer?" Asked Reggie, Luke looked at him and said "Really? This is why you wanted to see Julie."

"Yes...and you and I were dying to know, not literally dying but..", "I got the joke Reggie." He smiled as I looked at both of them as Alex wasn't with them, "Where's Alex?" They said he was back at the studio, "so did or did you not?"

Now Luke was becoming impatient, "I have and I gave him the flyer. He will meet me by the janitor closet after physical education. And to answer your question he isn't afraid of ghosts, he was actually like my brother, being excited yet chilled about it."

I told them about Jacob just before the bell rang. "See you at the studio in an hour.." I left as Flynn was waving goodbye to them in the opposite direction. "To your right not left Flynn.." she waved again as they waved bye.

Alex POV

After jamming out with Luke & Reggie, both we're very desperate to know if Julie found a singer or not. "I can't wait any longer. I am going to the school.."

"Reggie wait!" Both poofed out of the studio, I tapped my sticks on the drum and then looked up and I saw a burrito. "Ooooo..Score!" I yelled as I went towards it and tried picking it up. It didn't move, it was a legitimate hologram.

There was a slow applause as I looked around and saw nobody in sight. "Hello?", "Oh hello there, don't you remember me Alexander..?"

That voice was familiar and on the top of my mouth, but I couldn't tell who it was. Then I remembered who, "Jane..", "That's my name Alexander.." I looked up and down and tried to search for her. "I go by Alex now.." then she appears in front of me.

"I know that, I just thought I should warn you of Ghostly Fiend coming your way." I looked at her and asked if she knew who, "I don't know who, but I can tell you he is working for Caleb. I saw a boy shaking hands with him in the hotel casino..", "Woah..I'll let the boys know..thanks Jane.."

She started heading for the door and turned to him, "No. Problem. Alexander.." I tilt my head as it seemed something was off with her voice.

Jay POV

I slowly applauded as Alex looked around and saw nobody in sight. I changed my voice & appearance thanks to Willie to give them a warning. Now I am somebody that Alex knows. And this is also a way to tell him about me without exposing myself and risk myself to die of a thousand bolt shock from Caleb. "Hello?", "Oh hello there, don't you remember me Alexander..?"

I could see him thinking and then he got a light bulb, "Jane..", "That's my name Alexander.." He looked up and down and tried to search for me. "I go by Alex now.." then I appear in front of him.

"I know that, I just thought I should warn you of Ghostly Fiend coming your way." He looked at me and asked if I knew who. Obviously it's me, butI'm not going to expose myself. "I don't know who, but I can tell you he is working for Caleb. I saw a boy shaking hands with him in the hotel casino..", "Woah..I'll let the boys know..thanks Jane.."

I started heading for the door and turned to him, "No. Problem. Alexander.." His head tilted as it seemed something was off with my voice. When I exited the studio, I fell on the ground on my knees and coughed up the voice changer thing Willie gave me and took out the earrings to change back to my normal state.

"I. Did. It...they know but don't know it's me.." I poofed out and back at the school near a water fountain. I wish I could drink or eat but I can't.

I realize the bells about to ring and I am also right near the same janitor closet the girls told me about the band. Now all I have to do is meet and perform with them. And here come the fools walking into Caleb's trap. "Ready Jacob?" She asked me as I told her, "Ready as I'll ever be Julie.."
