Chapter 3: Rise And Shine, Smarty Pants!

Another new kid. Just what I needed. And what's more, it's a girl! My anxiety flares up the second Kit calls for me to help. Despite that, I come over and assist. It's kind of my job as a medic.

At the infirmary, Kit and I sit and wait for the girl to wake up. At one point, we take out a game of cards.

A few hours pass. I hear a shuffle next to me, on the bed where the girl is. I look over and see her open her eyes.

"You snore, you know," Kit remarks from next to me. I tilt my head in her direction.

"Kit, be nice! She's new and probably confused. We've got to help her, not make her uncomfortable!"

I then turn back to the newly awakened kid, who seems to be barely any older than I am. She looks around, a lot less shocked than most new campers are when they arrive.

"Hi, there! I'm Kade, and this is Kit! What's your name?" I question her.

"Hello." Her tone is immediately very matter-of-fact. Kind of scary. "My name is Agamya, but you can call me Agi." She sits up. "May I ask where I am?"

"Oh yeah, sorry about that! Let me clear a few things up for you! Welcome to Camp Half-Blood!" She seems to be listening, so I continue. Meanwhile, Kit watches from behind, seemingly confused by my sudden burst of confidence as am I.

"The Greek gods are real, yippy doodle doo." Kit adds in their signature sarcasm. The girl looks at each of us in turn, seemingly unfazed.

"Interesting." That's all the stormy eyed kid says.

Just interesting? I question. You just got the news that the gods are real! You should be surprised, at least!

She must notice the confounded look on my face, for she says, "I read, you know. And I've been chased by monsters a few times this past week. It's only logical that I would be involved in some sort of mythological world."

"Oh." That's all I can get out. This isn't the usual reaction, but I'll take it.
