There was a soft groan from Ezmeralda as she woke up. It was late in the morning, Spot was on the top bunk working on her weapon.

"Good morning Sleepy Head! I saved you some breakfast- We went fishing-" Spot chirped before pointing down at the bedside table where a plate of fish chunks sat. Ezmeralda shrugged and got up, stretching.

"Do we have gas in the car?"

"Which one?"

"What do you mean? We only have one-"

Spot shook her head, "Nah, Virtual got one. Thomas got one. So we have three and then the bus." Ezmeralda shook her head but smiled.

"Okay- does the first one have gas?"

Spot nodded. "Yeah, I think the keys are in supplies... Are you okay?"

Ezmeralda nodded, grabbing her trench coat and walking outside.

"You forgot your breakfast-" Spot yelled out.

Becca and Kira sat at a table chatting, working on something... like a shirt? Virtual was sitting next to the fire, keeping warm. Adam and Thomas were nowhere to be seen, probably hiding in tents. El was sitting at a different table, cleaning his gun in complete silence. Jean was reading. Ally was in supplies. Hulu was in the Medic tent and Alistair was re-enforcing the barrier.

Ezmeralda went to go talk to El but she was stopped by a tap on her shoulder. Ezmeralda yelped and whipped around, nearly punching whoever touched her.

"Hey!"

"Sorry Oliver! You scared me. What's wrong-"

Oliver awkwardly stood there. "I'm sorry about yesterday. It was childish and inappropriate, especially with the first death in the group." He stated.

Ezmeralda stood there at a loss for words. "It's okay- I- just don't do it again?" She mumbled. "Uh, I'm going for a ride. Would you like to come with me?" She asked. Oliver shook his head. Ezmeralda nodded. "Well, i'll be back soon-"

"Hey, just- be careful. There are weird people out there." Oliver replied.

"I know- I know!"

"No I'm serious- like what if you got kidnapped and-"

But Ezmeralda was already walking away. Oliver whined. He trusted Ezmeralda (maybe not fully) but he did NOT trust other people. Knowing Ezmeralda, she would let a random stranger in the car if they claimed they needed help and who knows what would happen... He scratched his head and looked around. Someone should go with her.

Ezmeralda grabbed the keys from the supplies tent and walked to the car. She got in, Started it up, and pulled out of the driveway. She sped down the empty highway in silence. She passed the gas station. She passed a farm. A lake.

Ezmeralda tapped her fingers on the steering wheel and hummed nervously.

She came across someone trying to fight off a hoard of zombies And slammed on the brakes. The tires skidded and screeched as she flew forward, hitting her head against the wheel. Ezmeralda growled and held her head. She remembered what she was doing and looked up.

Ezmeralda grabbed her gun and got out. "Are you okay!?" Ezmeralda yelled. The boy looked at her, fear filling his eyes, yelling in pain. She shot each zombie.

Once each zombie was down, she ran over. "Are you okay?" She repeated. The boy revealed his arm with a bite mark on it. Ezmeralda frowned. "Get in the car- we can help you-" he hesitated before getting in, taking his barn owl with him.

Ezmeralda was terrified of owls so you could imagine how scared she was.

As Ezmeralda was speeding down the road, she kept checking in on the new person. "What's your name?"
