The following morning, Lagrius awoke to a loud rustling coming from his kitchen. He had had a long night. And not the kind of long night he wanted either. Raelyn had been furiously mapping out her plan in triplicate. Writing everything in her beautiful script three times. She hadn't paid a single bit of attention to him since she had come home. He had put food in front of her but she hadn't touched it. When he had gone to bed she had still been at the kitchen table.
So he was a little surprised when he walked in he found Raelyn sitting in the middle of his kitchen. She was sitting amidst a halo of piles of papers, a devious smile on her face. Lagrius stared at her, slightly worried. Had she not slept?
"What is all of that?" he asked her. He was sort of afraid to walk into his own kitchen. Afraid he'd knock everything over and cause a freak out.
"Forms," she said plainly. "Everyone needs to fill one out, and once that's done I can sort through them all and figure out a plan to get everything working cohesively."
Lagrius looked at the papers in disgust. "You do realize that you will not be able to get anyone to fill those out right? You have no power here!"
"Oh, I'm not, you are. I have to stay here and sort through all of the potential corruptee's," she explained.
Okay... what now? Lagrius shook his head. "No! Not happening! You can't make me!"
Raelyn nodded. "I thought you'd say that. Please take a look at the letter on the top of that pile," she said pointing to the tallest stack on his table.
Lagrius waded through the stacks, trying not to knock anything over. He eventually managed to make his way to the table, found the dinner he had made her last night half eaten and still discarded. Right so he wasn't making her breakfast.
He picked up a letter that he could already see carried the royal seal. Inside he found a letter from the Queen of the Abyss. It wasn't directly addressed to him but to all in the Abyss. It was a direct order to help Raelyn with the project.
Lagrius glared turned a dry glare to her. "Really?"
"Yep, those were sent out to everyone last night," she said almost proudly. A sort of pointed smile on her face that he had never seen before. "I can play dirty when I have to!"
Lagrius picked up the first stack. "You are the worst Angel in the world!" he growled.
Raelyn smiled. "And it's how I got to the top of my profession!"
"You should have used it to get promoted," he said with a scowl.
Raelyn frowned and Lagrius bit his lip, for a second he was worried she might cry.
"I tried," she said instead, with a depressed sigh.
Lagrius winced and figured now would be a good time to leave before he upset her further. So he took his leave right away before she could start crying.
That day he spent going back and forth from different sections of the Abyss and his rooms. He didn't talk to Raelyn much as she was too busy going through the files on their potential corruption targets to pay attention to him. She was categorizing them by the looks of it. He didn't know what that meant for them but he had a feeling it couldn't be good.
So when he was done delivering the letters, he decided not to go home right at that moment but instead he went to the Ring of Torture. He stomped into Mischev's office and slumped down into a chair across from his desk and waited for his friend to acknowledge him, which took a while as he was looking through the paperwork Lagrius had dropped off.
"So what is this stupid project the Evil Dude cooked up," Mischev said, throwing his filled out form at him. "It was ridiculously detailed and a lot of work. I hated every second of it."
