I've been avoiding everyone. The first trial seems to be all anyone can talk about and I can't even bring myself to think about it.
I stare at the potions essay in front of me. It's supposed to be done in a pair and I can't help but think that if things were different we would be doing it together not just cutting the word count and subtopics in half.
I feel pathetic. All I do is cry and sleep. I blink back the tears rubbing at my eyes when someone drops into the seat next to me.
"He's a dick." It's not a voice I'm expecting.
"What do you want Draco?"
"Look you're family. Clearly you're going through the shit right now and I think you need to hear this," he states in his normal haughty tone. I look up and he's not scowling like I would expect but instead giving me a small smile. "He is a dick. To enter and not tell you-"
"You know?"
"The whole school knows. Stop interrupting me. To enter and not tell you is low even for an arsehole like him. You don't deserve it. You don't deserve a guy who will put his life in danger for some stupid game. You don't deserve the whole school talking about it. You don't deserve the creep Durmstrang boys staring at you all the time or the comments they make in their shitty English. But it's the hand you've been dealt. I'm sure all your friend are giving you sympathy but here's the tough love I know you need. You are a Black. You know what you deserve. He wasn't it. So what? You'll find it. You hold your head up, you walk around the castle like you own the place and he meant nothing. Like no one can hurt you, cause then they can't. You're a pretty girl, you're smart, you're funny. You deserve better than a pretty boy. So stop crying over him. You care about him? Fine. You do everything you can on the sidelines to make sure he's alright. But you don't let all of them know you're hurting or that you care," he says it matter of factly.
"Thankyou Draco," I smile
"You get a one time offer at a hug here and then we are back to normal," he scowls. I grin pulling him into a tight hug that he returns pulling me close and stroking my back comfortingly.
"You're not as bad as you make people think," I state
"Exactly," he returns before standing up and leaving. Shooting me one last smile on the way out.
I stand up, a new found purpose in my step as I stride towards Uncle Remus's classroom.
I throw the door open
"Em, sweetie, how are you?" He questions
"Fine. I need a favour,"
"Okay?" He questions seemingly taken aback by my less pathetic nature
"I need you to train Cedric. Coach him through all this. He's a good wizard but he's not ready for this. No kid is. I know it's a lot to ask but-"
"Consider it done," he smiles
"Thankyou,"
"It's no problem," he states. I turn to leave but he calls out "does he know that we have had this conversation?" I know what he's asking. Are we together again. Does he need to keep this a secret. I shake my head
"Understood," he assures. I nod sending him one last smile before I leave the room.
I arrive at lunch and ignore the eyes on me as I drop into a seat with my friends.
"You doing alright?" Fred questions wrapping an arm around me
"I am fine. Better than fine. I'm great. I'm over him. He's stupid and he's selfish. He wasn't even my boyfriend," I state. I can tell they don't quite buy my new opinions but let me have it either way.
"Well. Good," Angelina is the first to talk. Reaching out and squeezing my hand
"Now you have nothing making you guilty for smashing them in quidditch," Harry quips, his trio next to us
"Exactly. Every cloud," I grin to him.
"Katie who is the most attractive Durmstrang boy?" I request looking at her
"Klaus. Why?" She questions confused.
"The only person worthy of being the rebound to the best looking boy at our school is the best looking boy at another," Hermione smirks reading me like a book
"Exactly 'Mionie," I grin to her. Standing up on mission to go and find Klaus.
"Hello," the foreign accent finds me before I find him. We are in the clock tower court yard.
"Klaus, hi," I smile. I notice Draco and his posse out of the corner of my eyes and he shots me an encouraging smirk.
"Sorry to hear about your boyfriend,"
"Friend. He was prick,"
"Prick?"
"Yknow? Arsehole? Dickhead?" I keep trying until one lands and he nods in understanding.
"Yes," he agrees
"You confident in Krum?" I question
"Yes," he nods again "and in Cedric?"
"He is a good wizard," I admit. "Reckless. But a good wizard,"
