The dungeon is as cold as ever as I watch Cedric thanking our class mates as they congratulate him as he makes way too our desk.

He sits down and immediately an awkward silence falls over the pair of us. He glances at me like he's waiting for me to break it before rolling his eyes and looking away when I say nothing. I inhale deeply before speaking

"Congratulations," I smile, he nods not looking at me "rock to a dog, that's clever,"

"Surprised you even know," he states bitterly

"What do you mean?"

"You didn't even come to the trial," he spits out. So that's why he's so angry.

"What are you talking about? Of course I came," I whisper shout aware of a few people watching us

"I-" he stops looking at me like he's questioning wether or not to believe me

"I will admit I was too scared to watch and hid in Fred's chest for a majority but of course I was there. You really think I wouldn't show up for you,"

"You haven't exactly been present in my life recently,"

"You think that means I stop caring. That we don't talk and suddenly I don't care about you. God, you really don't know me. I will care about you until the day I die," I mutter glad for the first time in my life when Snape stalks in.

"Today you will be brewing Amortentia. It will take you until the end of class. Work with your partner. Hand in a vile at the end of the class. I expect you to hand in your essay next week," he drawls before going back to the work on his desk.

The irony. A love potion brewed by me and Cedric.

We work in silence, shifting around each other in a way that can only be described as natural. Like we don't have to think to function together.

An hour later the potion is letting off spiralling smokers .

"We should smell it. Check we did it right," Cedric states.

"Oh-I-"

"I never said we would talk about what we smelt Emily. I'm just saying, you know what you love. It'll smell of things you love, maybe even a person,"

"Right,"

"I'll go first," he states, clearly noticing I'm uncomfortable, leaning over the cauldron and inhaling. I see him fighting to keep the small smile off his face. "Makes sense," he nods pulling away, I lean over.

Petrol. That's helping dad work on his motorbike in the summer holiday.

Freshly baked cookies. That's the kitchen in the weasleys house surrounded by my family.

Flowers. That's the spot by the lake me and Cedric sit at.

And god. I hate it but it's there. I can only describe it as quidditch, and honey and- it's just Cedric. It's his chest when he holds me close. It's jumper when I sit wearing it even now. It's Cedric.

The thing I smell that is what I love the most is Cedric.

I stumble back a little and my skin feels like it's on fire when his hands go out too hold me stable.

"Does it smell right?" He questions, a whisper. I nod.

"Okay," he smiles, coughing a little and letting go of me.

**

All day Cedric is all I can think about. I love him. Course I already knew it. But to have it written so clearly in front of me.
