"Can I meet the suspect?"
The question lingered in the room. Shuichi couldn't help it, he wanted to meet him so he could actually see if he seems suspicious or not. "Uh.. Sure? He's staying with his grandparents right now, he's on probation.." Haruta said, akwardly. "Would you like a ride?" Haruta asked making Shuichi look up in excitement. "Y-yes please...if it's not a lot of trouble for you.." Shuichi shyly hid is face under his hat. He didn't want to sound desperate but at the same time he really wanted to meet Kokichi. "Okay then.." Haruta replied.
Shuichi was ecstatic, he has always loved solving mysteries as a little boy; thanks to his uncle he has a job that where he can do that and he loves it very much. He loved going into things deeper that intended; he always looked at those riddles on instagram to boost his IQ. The majority of the time he solved them in a second, but that was his form of intertainment. To him, this case or rather, this job was like a riddle to him---difficult but fun, frustrating but exhilarating. He found himself in a daze, thinking about how much mysteries have brought to him. Sure there are tragic ones but nevertheless he loved solving them, bringing hope and justice to those that have been affected.
"You okay Shuichi?" Haruta asked, looking at the dark blue haired boy with confusion and concern. Shuichi then noticed that he totally zoned out, "Ah! I'm fine I was just thinking.." He said, flailing his hands in defense. This caused Haruta to laugh. "Okay? Anyway we're gonna leave in about ten minutes--I need to get a little bit of work done before we go." He chuckled, causing Shuichi to get flustered.
Shuichi hated how easily he could get flustered, for no reason what so ever his face just decides to turn red out of no where. It doesen't even have to be when he's angry or when he gets confronted by his crush; No, this happens for every reaction he has--with the exception of sadness. This caused many people to call him 'creepy' or 'perverted' but he really wasn't... This was one of the reasons why he wears his hat.
He patiently waited for the time to pass by, doodling on his notebook or just plainly watching the clock tick. He could barely keep in his excitement, he wanted to jump out of his chair and just leave but he had to wait. He tapped his foot in a rhythm hoping to make the time go by faster. Surprisingly, the tapping kind of worked. He didn't speed up time like it was a superpower, but since he was occupied and focusing on something that helped a little. He got bored of just tapping his foot so he started to write in his journal.
He was writing about how much he hated school, sure Shuichi was smart but he HATED presentations. It was like the teachers were trying to humiliate him, they always called on him when they knew he wasn't good at anything that had to do with public speech. whenever he got up to speak he was always a stuttering mess. He was constantly made fun of for being so akward, mostly from one of the girls at his school. Hiyoko Saionji. She was really insolent and didn't care about how much she hurt the people she made fun of.
Shuichi was one of her main targets besides Mikan, he had no idea why she decided to go after him. Thankfully his best friend Hajime would defend him along with Hajime's boyfriend Nagito.
"Shuichi, are you ready?" Haruta asked, packing up his stuff. Shuichi quite literally jumped out of his chair. He almost fell as he got up. "I-I'm sorry.." He apologized, Haruta giggled a little bit before responding, "It's totally okay.."
They both got ready to leave, getting their bags and papers. When they finished, they made there way to the car, having small talk along the way. "Why did you want to meet him so suddenly?" Haruta asked, fumbling with his keys to unlock the door of the car. "Um... I don't know...I just thought it might help the case.." Shuichi responded, it wasn't a complete lie--he just didn't tell the full truth. He wanted to help the case but he also just wanted to meet him; maybe befriend him. "If you say so.." Haruta mumbled, getting into the car.
After an anxiety inducing conversation they started to drive. Shuichi put in his earbuds listening to music like--Radiohead and Alanis Morissette . (I fucking love them) There was one particular song that he had on repeat, a song that he related too much, a song that brought him to tears every single time. That song was Alanis Morissette's "Perfect"
He related to this song deeply because when Shuichi still lived with his parents they had an unhealthy amount of expectations bestowed onto him. He had to uphold all of the stress with grades, to add onto that they rushed him to find who and what he wanted to do. They never accepted him when he told them that he was bisexual, they would always tell him that he was confused and forced their beliefs onto him.
When he was in grade school Shuichi found out that he had a crush on a boy, he was scared for his life. He knew that his parents wouldn't accept him--but he couldn't controll these feelings. He desperately tried but it was no use.
He shook those thoughts out of his head, grieving over the perental love that was never there in the first place wouldn't make it magically appear. He had an uncle that took care of him, and although he was busy with work most of the time he made sure that Shuichi had everything that he needed. Shuichi knew that his uncle loved him, he knew that he would accept him no matter what--but he was still scared. The past trauma of his parents didn't go away so he was fucking terrified of expressing himself. Knowing people wouldn't love him anymore if he was truly himself.
He hadn't realized how much time had passed, they were already almost at Ouma's house. When Shuichi noticed he felt anxiety mixed with exitement twirl inside his stomach, twisting and turning like a spinning wheel. His mind was blurred and blank, all that he knew was that he wanted to go back. He hated feeling like this, like he was nervous enough to throw up, like if he made one wrong move and he would crumble.
He tried not to focus the feeling, he tried and tried but ultamitely failed. His head was now throbbing, it hurt but it was also thrilling in a sense. He felt like he was going on an adventure, a very scary one. An adventure with gouls and ghosts, ones you see in TV shows or movies. He knew that he wasn't actually in an adventure, this was a real life case. If he guessed incorrectly he wouldn't be able to rewind or start again, he had one chance.
One chance to reveal the truth.
I am so sorry for my horrid writing... I was studying for a math test right before I wrote this so this might not be the best.. Anyway I'm starting to get sleepy.. As always have a fantabulous day!
