Kokichi was lying in his bed, in self pity. I mean who wouldn't, being accused of murdering your best friend wasn't necesseraly the funnest thing. Ouma tried to tell them that he didn't do it, he never ever wanted to hurt his best friend but people thought he was lying. He accepted his fate, he accepted that he was going to die. He was going to die in the hands of someone else's crime,  he was going to die getting manipulated by another person---like a puppet or like a toy. He thought of himself as an object, it wasn't the healthiest mindset but it was the one that he had come to accept.

Everyday, a new person came to his house looking for answers---looking for stories or headlines for their articles. He never told them anything, he always avoided answering the questions like 'Where were you at the scene of the crime'  because how would he be able to tell them that he was on the rooftop planning to commit suicide? He was planning to end his miserable life that day  but stopped, he was too scared to jump.

He wished he did though, anything would be better than this. He felt bad for himself that's how horrible it had gotten, and he didn't have any intention on getting help. Everybody was already against him, especially the people from school. The only people that believed him were Kaede, Kiibo, Gonta and Miu. Those were the only ones in the whole entire school that cared enough to believe him. At first Miu was suspicious of Kokichi but her girlfirend Kaede convinced her otherwise.

He wished for an alternate ending, one were he didn't have to feel like this, one were he actually ended his life instead of backing out like a wuss. That's what Ouma was: a big ol' wuss, he had this facade, a facade that displayed to everyone as 'Cocky, or confident.' In reality he was the complete opposite.. He was an insecure, sad little boy.  Although at times he could be selfish he still cared about his classmates. They weren't the 'closest' friends that he had,  but he still considered them as friends; sometimes he wishes that they would return those feelings.

He wished that instead of having them against him, they could share this type of bond; not like as in friendship---maybe aquaintanceship. It wasn't until Ouma heard a ring at his doorbell that he snapped out of his thoughts.

"Kokichi, someones at the door for you!" He heard his grandmother shout from the living room. Kokichi got out of his bed, feeling like an old man stepping out of their wheel chair for the first time. He lazily stumbled to the living room where he saw two men at the door. One of them had glasses and was well above his teenage years, if Kokichi had to guess he would say that he was about 30-40. The other boy looked like he was about Kokichi's age. Kokichi thought he had seen all of the detectives and interrogaters, but never has he seen someone his age at his doorstep.

He found himself becoming more curious of the boy that stood outside of his door. Just the younger boy,  he could care less about the middle aged man. "Ah, um....are you K-kokichi Ouma?" The boy stuttered. Ouma found that really cute. "No, my name is John." Ouma said, his face becoming solemn and serious. He loved watching the reaction of the other boy, he looked nervous and burried his head into his hat. "I-I'm very sorry.." He muttered, before he had walked away the middle aged man grabbed his hand. "Saihara, he's lying... he is Kokichi." He sighed, making Ouma giggle. 'His name is Saihara' He made a mental note, not wanting to forget his name.

"Nishishishi, your reaction was priceless Saihara-chan!~" Ouma snickered, causing Saihara to blush. Ouma thought that was also cute.. but not in that way. He was attracted to him physically yes, but he hadn't known him long enough to develop a crush on him. "U-um I came to uh.... ask you s-some questions, if that's okay with you.." Saihara mumbled,  feeling himself grow more and more insecure. He wanted to question Kokichi but he didn't want to pressure him, even Saihara knew that Kokichi was a human too and deserved to be treated as one.

"Sure.." Kokichi was taken aback from this simple but kind gesture. No one had ever asked if HE was okay with being questioned, or just being okay with anything. He remembers being forced to do things that he didn't want to, but right now---Saihara was asking if he wanted to be questioned. This gesture would've brought him to tears if he hadn't been such a good liar. "So~ what does Saihara-chan want to ask me about?" He grinned, his childlike nature taking over. Saihara looked at him---and for just a moment he felt butterflies swarm inside his stomach; not the nervous type of butterflies either, it felt much more pleasant.

"W-we should sit down...just so it's more comfortable." While all of this happned they totally forgot that Haruta was there. "I'm just going to head out, Shuichi you can call me when you're done so I can pick you up..that sound good?" Haruta said, Shuichi nodded in response. "Oh, I toootally~ forgot you were there old man!" Kokichi exclaimed, Haruta just groaned. "I'm going to ignore that you just called me an old man and go.." He said while walking out of the door.

This caused both of the boys to giggle. Kokichi enjoying the sound of Shuichi's laugh, finding himself craving more of it when he stopped. "U-um... can we start?" There it was, Shuichi was back to being the ball of anxiety that he hated. "Sure thing, Saihara-chan!" Kokichi cheered, Saihara finding the ball of pranks and sunshine being very....cute. "So..uhm, the first question I wanted to ask was what was your relatioship with the victim?" Of course Saihara knew the answer to that question but he wanted to start off light and easy, to make sure not to overwhelm Ouma. "Ah! well Rantaro was my one and only partner in crime~" Ouma answered making dramatic finger guns to emphasize his point. Shuichi couldn't help but laugh, he couldn't imagine Ouma ever murdering someone, but he knew not to let emotions get in the way of his job.

"Okay...next question, where were you when the murder took place?" Shuichi thought this was another easy question to answer for Kokichi; he was dead wrong. It didn't seem like it but Kokichi was full on panicking. "I-I was at the store.." Shuichi could tell right away that this was a lie, because Kokichi lost that sense of confidence when he answered. "That was a lie Ouma.." This time he didn't stutter. "No it was not, nishishishi~" He tried his best not to slip up, but Saihara already caught on. "Ouma...for me to prove your innocence you need to tell me the truth." Saihara softly said, making sure not to scare or pressure him; pressuring people wasn't Saihara's way of interrogating .

Kokichi on the other hand was debating whether or not he wanted to tell him the truth. He didn't want Saihara to leave or be a one time detective . Fuck it he was telling the truth, it was something that he struggled with immensely but he had to do it. "I was on the rooftop." He could see Saihara become more confused. Why would Kokichi be on the roof? "U-um why were you on the roof?" Saihara asked, still in the soft toned voice he had before. Kokichi thought about it carefully, and he didn't want to lie to him again, he would catch on right away if he tried...

"I was on the roof because I was planning to jump."
