The large group, all, almost just as quickly or even faster as they did Lily, whipped their head to look at the two guilty partys. James and Fred, looked as if they were deer in headlights, neither daring to make a movement or sound, and the time turner simply dangling from James' hand. Having heard the commotion from the other room, Victorie and Teddy quickly ran to the scene of the soon to be committed crime, only to find a bunch of teens, staring at two very very innocent (not) looking others. Unfortunately, neither one of the two adults realised what was in the messy haired ones hand, or at least, not in time.
"James, Fred, what have you done?" Victorie asked, her slight French accent peaking through her scarily calm tone.
"We've done nothing? Although we could ask you the same, is that flour, on your nose? You weren't even baking with flour?" Fred asked, also using the same, fake calm facade that his cousin had used. Of course internally he was very much panicking, because he had just been caught with one of the most dangerous artifacts he knew of, which was not only illegal, but enough to land him a good grounding until the day he graduates.
"Wha- ugh no Fred don't change the subject! Now what on earth are you doing?" Victorie asked once again, this time very clearly loosing that last inch of patience she had left.
Neither Fred nor James had the chance to even come up with what lie they were going to say next, let along say it, because in that very moment, Teddy had spotted the illegal object in his god brothers hand. His hair, almost instantly turned a fiery red, deeper, and brighter than even that of a Weasleys. His cheeks, flushed an almost identical shade. Make no mistake he was fuming.
"JAMES SIRIUS POTTER WHAT and excuse my language but THE FUCK, IS THAT?"
James still hadn't moved or spoken until now. But instead of words all the came out was a spluttery mess. He frantically whipped his head around, not having the faintest of clues what to do. Yeah he was one of the best pranksters of his generation, but that didn't mean he knew how to get away from Teddy's wrath because dear merlin was he scary.
Now this, is were the second mistake is made. Well, I assume the second, but there were probably many others in between. It seemed to have happened in slow motion, first Teddy's fiercsm glare, then Victories yell, then the quick slamming of Albus' book and then, the throwing of the time turner. Panicked looks were exchanged quicker than lightning can strike, the shiny gold object flew across the room, heading directly towards Alice's hands, that were awaiting it in the air. She blinked, but of course, at the wrong moment. The time turner hit the wall behind her, then fell into her hands. She clasped her hands over it, but just ever so slightly too tight, the small hourglass inside shattered, piercing the skin on her hand and causing it to bleed, and her to drop the time turner onto the carpet.
From here on out, nothing would ever be the same again...
