There are five million people on earth, there are one hundred twenty two species of animals, there are five thousand cities, and two inhabitable continents. That's it. I was told once that there used to be ten billion people on earth. When I heard that I laughed aloud. I live in city two-forty, Central Earth.
I've only ever heard of the outskirts, where the government drops troublesome citizens, I don't even know what it looks like, because no camera or drone can go that near to where the bomb dropped, one hundred years ago. It was June, 2310 when the bomb dropped, killing the majority of earth's humans. It was four years of chaos, people grieving in the streets, fleeing from the poison in the air, running and weeping and killing. there were no laws, no homes, no money, no food. Not for four years.
No one tried to stop the government from taking over, but many wished they had. The government has a set of laws, and if you don't follow them, you are sent to the outskirts, which is where the bomb was dropped. No matter what you do, whether you stole a couple Copper pellets, or were part of a terrorist group, you get the same punishment; you are sent to the outskirts where you will die a slow, painful death.
The Government's ways of enforcing things may be cruel, but they're definitely effective. The earth is in peace, as it's been for the last ninety-five years. The people are still rebuilding, the bomb completely obliterated the outskirts, and did a large amount of damage globally. in some places the ground wasn't suitable for building on, because of it's tendency to collapse in at random points, causing earthquakes. When these earthquakes occur, small amounts of poisonous gas come out of the ground, causing anyone near enough to breathe it in to get terribly sick, we call this sickness bombae, meaning bomb, since the bomb is what did this to us.
It is said there is a place that has thrived since the bomb hit, where everything is beautiful and luscious, where flame rests on water. The Land of Fire and Ice.
