-"Oh, and Miss. (l/n)," he stopped her, "don't eat the pies. They're awful."
-
Anthony and (y/n) walked breathlessly down the busy streets. Anthony hung onto her for support, even though he was much too heavy for (y/n)'s liking.
They reached a dull shop, labeled Mrs. Lovett's Meat Pies. It looked empty, like nobody had been in it for years.
"Look, I have to go. But my good friend Mr. Todd should be staying there, I'm sure he could spare a room." Anthony said, lightly holding (y/n)'s shoulders.
She was worried, what if this Mr. Todd turned her away? She nodded slightly, still looking scared.
"Don't worry, (y/n), he won't bite." Anthony said with a small laugh. She laughed along with him, feeling a bit less anxious.
"Thank you, Anthony. Will I be able to see you again?" she asked, almost pleading. He was her only friend in London, so she wanted to be able to see him more.
"Of course, I'll come later today to check on you, and to tell Mr. Todd about Johanna!" Anthony exclaimed, pulling (y/n) into a small hug.
She obliged, and hugged back. He patted her back slightly, gesturing for her to go in. She followed, and started to slowly walk towards the old building.
She opened the light door, which caused a small bell to ring as she entered. A pretty woman, maybe a few years older than (y/n), stood behind the counter.
She had red, curly hair tied in a messy ponytail, and a lovely black dress covered in flour. She was pale with large eye bags, but they suited her.
"A customer!" she exclaimed. She ran over to (y/n) and sat her down. "Hello, love! I'm Mrs. Lovett, what can I do for you?"
"Uh, hello," (y/n) stammered, "my name's (y/n) (l/n), and my friend Anthony told me a Mr. Todd was staying here?"
"Oh, yes!" Mrs. Lovett exclaimed, sitting across from her.
"Well uhm, I was told I would be allowed to stay here, but I understand if-"
"Of course you can stay, deary!" Mrs. Lovett interrupted. She jumped up excitedly, grabbing a hold of (y/n)'s hand.
"Oh, thank you so much!" (y/n) exclaimed, still holding onto Mrs. Lovett's hand.
She led her into the back room, which had a blueish-green wallpaper, and a lot of dolls. Mrs. Lovett stopped and waved her arms in a gesturing manner, showing off the room.
"Here you are, love. You can sleep right 'ere on the couch." she patted the soft-looking sofa, and (y/n) set her bag down.
"Alright, guess I gotta introduce you to Mr. T." Mrs. Lovett once again grabbed onto (y/n)'s arm, and pulled her back into the kitchen, and out the side door.
The pair walked up an old set of stairs, which led up to an empty room. Mrs. Lovett knocked on the door before opening it, dragging (y/n) into the room with her.
A handsome man stood before the two, cleaning something which looked to be a razor. He paid no attention to the two women at the door.
"Ahem, Mr. T, we've got company." Mrs. Lovett said to the man. He had black, curly hair, with a white strip in the front.
He was even paler than Mrs. Lovett, and he looked tired. He was beautiful, though.
He looked up from his razor, and faced (y/n). They held eye contact, and (y/n) felt herself get embarrassed, so she looked away.
"Hello, I'm Sweeney Todd." he said with barely any expression in his voice, nor his face.
"(y/n) (l/n)." the quiet girl said. He nodded slightly, then turned to Mrs. Lovett.
"She's going to be staying with us for a while," she started, "a lad named Anthony told her she could."
"Anthony, how do you know Anthony?" Mr. Todd exclaimed, turning to face the young girl.
"Well, I was brought to a house by the Beadle, some judge," (y/n) started, Mr. Todd and Mrs. Lovett seemed more intrigued now.
"and when I walked in, there he was. The Beadle hurt Anthony, badly, and then the judge asked me to move in with him." (y/n) finished.
Mrs. Lovett pulled the shaking girl into a small hug, while Mr. Todd looked at her, bewildered. He looked almost sorry for the girl, but she couldn't tell.
"Oh love, I'm so sorry," Mrs. Lovett said, "come now, you can stay as long as you'd like, and you can help me in the shop."
(y/n) nodded, and went to follow her out of the room.
"Hold on, I would like to have a word with her." Mr. Todd said, startling both (y/n) and Mrs. Lovett.
"I'll come down when we're finished." (y/n) told Mrs. Lovett, and with that she left. "Is everything alright, Mr. Todd?"
"This Judge, what'd he look like?" he asked, putting away his razors.
"Well, uh, he wore fancy clothes, grey hair, and the most terrifying deep voice." she stated with a shudder.
"Okay, you can go now." he said, but more demanded. (y/n) nodded, and turned towards the door.
"Oh, and Miss. (l/n)," he stopped her, "don't eat the pies. They're awful." She let out a small giggle, and left the room and down the stairs.
"So, 'ow'd it go with Mr. T? I know he can be quite intimidating." Mrs. Lovett said, while rolling out dough.
"He's alright, just wanted to know what the judge looked like." Mrs. Lovett nodded at the statement, and continued to roll out the dough.
(y/n) walked over to the counter, and jumped slightly when she saw a bug. Mrs. Lovett just laughed at the girl, and (y/n) shook her head.
"Do you want me to roll out the dough? I don't mind." (y/n) said, looking over to the sweating woman.
"Oh, thank you, love. Me poor old bones ain't what they used to be." she replied, sitting at one of the tables.
(y/n) carefully rolled out the dough, and filled it with the disgusting meat. She gagged slightly as she filled them, but she couldn't hurt Mrs. Lovett's feelings.
"If you don't mind me asking, how come you came 'ere to London?" Mrs. Lovett asked the girl, and (y/n) could feel tears start to well up in her (e/c) eyes.
"I was in a marriage, an abusive one." she said. Mrs. Lovett gasped a little, and looked at the girl sympathetically.
"He would hit me a lot, so I started saving up money. When I finally saved enough, I ran. I boarded the boat that was leaving soonest, which happened to be the one heading to London."
"Oh deary, I'm so sorry." Mrs. Lovett said quietly, walking over to the girl. She pulled her into a tight hug, and (y/n) started to sob.
The pair hugged in silence, while (y/n)'s tears fell into the meat mixture. It's not like it mattered though, it was already disgusting.
"Alright now, enough of this misery!" Mrs. Lovett exclaimed, pulling away from the hug. (y/n) laughed a little and wiped her eyes.
She went back to rolling out the dough, which honestly looked really good compared to Mrs. Lovett's meat mixture- if you could even call it that.
The two joked around for a little while, until they saw Mr. Todd walking in. He nodded slightly at the two girls who were covered in flour, and he tugged on his shirt.
"We need to go into town, I think the judge will be there." he said looking at Mrs Lovett, who turned towards a confused (y/n).
"Of course, dear. We'll all go." she replied, and (y/n) still didn't understand why he needed to see the judge.
"I'm sorry, why do you need to see the ju-"
"No reason. Come on." Mr. Todd interrupted, and (y/n) didn't argue. He may be pretty, but he was damn strict.
