As I Start Sinking

*Jhana's P.O.V.*

There was a never ending pattern of swirling darkness around me. My lungs were screaming for air. Why couldn't I breathe?

*Zack's P.O.V.*

As the front of the vehicle submerged under water, I started panicking. I pulled my seatbelt off and tried to get the door open. It was just cracked open, when the water slammed it shut again, the whole truck sunk fast. It was getting pulled along by the rivers current, and I couldn't stop it. My lungs were screaming for oxygen, but I struggled on with the door.

Suddenly, I remembered that Jhana was in the vehicle, and she had left her window open! I leaned towards her, unsnapped her seatbelt, and struggled to push her through the window. Finally, her body pulled free from the window, and started to be pulled downriver. I mentally swore to myself and pushed myself through the open window.

Struggling to the surface, I broke through and gasped for breathe, searching the surrounding area for Jhana. I saw her blonde head bobbing down the river a few feet away from me, and I swam towards her.

I was so glad I was a strong swimmer, and on the swim team, because I easily overcame the strong current, and stroked my way over to Jhana. I pulled her into my arms and started swimming to shore. It was a little more difficult to swim with her in my arms, but she weighed almost nothing so it wasn't too bad.

I had been swimming for what seemed like forever, when my fingers brushed up against the shore. I pulled my feet under me, and stood up. I was dizzy from exhaustion, but I needed to get Jhana somewhere warm and safe. I walked onto shore, and limped my way to, what I thought was, the highway.

*Sorry it's so short... I have exams coming up, so I have been studying like crazy!
