Chapter Two

My coven, as ordered, gathered the guests outside, to their complete confusion. It was just as I had planned. Their confusion would make my actions ever more frightening. I felt the barrier breach as soon as the uninvited presence passed through them. Vibrations were sent up and down my body, and I knew the time had come. It was only a matter of minutes before the man (I assumed) would find my proud castle in the middle of my territory. It was here that he would meet his most unfortunate end. I watched my men lead the last of the guests outside and listened in to the conversations of each magician invited. They were all wondering why I could possible want them outside. I almost laughed out loud, but I couldn't, as this would reveal that I was in listening distance. My target was finally coming to a halt, as he had seen the crowd in front of him. His expression was utterly priceless. It was time for me to make my grand entrance.

Even though there was an unfamiliar man in front of them, the guests could not help but turn to face me as I made myself noticeable. My long black dress trailed behind me like a tail of darkness itself and my emerald eyes glinted in the light from the pale moon. There mouths all dropped, complete awestruck by my beauty. Finally, each one took a bow in front of me, all except the man (I had assumed correctly) that had invaded my territory.

"Rise, my guests," I commanded. Every single person rose at exactly the same time, as if they were an army of zombies at my command. "Our little gathering has been interrupted by an assassin sent by the King," I told them, to which they all gasped and looked at each other for reassurance. They needed to know that they had not been fooled. Everybody then turned towards the back of them, to see the man standing there, frozen. "I would like you all to meet Sir Harry, knight of King John," I explained. Robin shot me a warning glance, but I did not care. These magicians would most certainly fear me by the end of this fine night. Sir Harry stayed completely silent. I sent a gust of wind towards him, and he fell backwards to his dismay, dropping his much too heavy sword. My audience laughed.

"Don't hurt me," the once brave knight whimpered. "Please, spare me." It was my turn to cackle. They always did the same. They pleaded and pleaded, and I let them, until I was finally fed up of their whining and killed them.

"Hush, knight, or do you even deserve that title?" I teased. The man in front of me paled. He was distressed, I could tell, and from his expression, I could see he was more than frightened of me. I gained joy from his stunning displeasure. I sent a strike of fire at him, stopping it just in between his eyes so it did not actually reach him. Perhaps he would die from fear before I could actually kill him.

"Stop playing games, Elsa," Robin shot at me. He did not like me to toy with my prey.

"Oh, but brother, this is so much fun!" I squealed in mock excitement like a little girl. He rolled his eyes, as he was completely used to my bad antics. My audience was glued to my display of magic. It was rare for a magician to have a power over an element, and I had just demonstrated control over two in front of their own eyes. If they had not seen it, they would have never believed it. Each and every one of them had heard of what I was capable of doing, but none had seen it with their own eyes before hand, except perhaps one or two who I had met before.

After there shock had passed, I entertained my guests some more. There was a tall tree standing right above the knight, so with a thundering crack, I sent it falling over my prey. Just as it was about to fall on to him, I made it stop, and pushed it back up to its rightful place. More gasps escaped from my audience. Robin's expression was still that of sorrow. He did not really enjoy my killing displays. I had so far shown three of my elements. There was only water left.

"Come beside me, my coven," I called, and immediately, Oliver, Jordan, San and Robin came to my sides.

"What is it, my lady?" San asked me. I put a finger to my lips. He would soon see what I had in mind.

"Magicians of the lands, I would like to introduce you to my coven. These are the most powerful men you will ever come across, and I would like you to bow before them in respect," I demanded. Robin shot me another warning glance. It was my turn to roll my eyes. This part of my display was for his benefit. I knew he would not like it if I made a spectacle out of them. All of the guests bowed again, too scared to do otherwise. It amazed me how easy it was to control them. They each were powerful in their own way, some having one power over an element, some with other strange powers like prophesising and mood reading. I doubted that even if they grouped together they could overthrow myself and the coven. It was possibly a good thing for them that they were obeying my orders. I would always have control over these weak life beings.

It was then, that I noticed my uninvited guest had risen back up on to his feet.

"Are you going somewhere, knight of King John?" I asked him. He turned to face me, his face growing even paler.

"No, my lady," he stammered. It would soon be the climax of my wicked performance. Soon, it would all be over.

"Good," I replied, a sly smile spreading on to my lips.

"Get a move on, Elsa, you're taking this too far," Robin whispered. There was no such thing as too far. Killing was killing; it could not be made better or worse in my opinion.

"You can rise again, my guests," I said, forgetting that they were still knelt on the floor. They each rose again, and turned towards around to face the knight. I reached my consciousness out into the man's mind. He was more scared than I could have ever imagined, which was all the better. He was still wondering when I would end his misery.

"Please Elsa, it is paining me watching you do this," my brother whispered into my ear again. I smiled. It would all be over again soon.

The moon was covered by a grey cloud, and I decided to use the new darkness to my advantage. In my mind, I pictured a strike so powerful that it was a mix of all four of my elements. It formed together elegantly, into a pinpoint barely noticeable. I pushed out my hands, sending two of these pictured strikes right at the knight. My audience were captivated once again. The strikes shot over their heads as fast as lightning, and hit my target square in the chest, knocking him backwards into the trunk of a tree. His neck snapped as he hit it so hardly, and his eyes began to roll around in their sockets. His head drooped over like a wilting flower, and his heart took its final beat and his lungs let out one final breath. My assassin had failed his King. The King had one less man at his side. I had killed once again, and I felt no guilt at all. Robin, beside me, had his head bowed low. The other three Coven members had open mouths, amazed at my new strike. None of them had known of my latest discovery of combining my elements.

"That, my guests, is what will happen to any of you if you decide to side with King John of the lands," I said, my voice oozing a scary confidence, shocking them into complete silence. They all stayed silent, as well as my coven members. Sir Harry was completely still as death greeted him like so many of my previous victims, and my heart grew ever more black.

So, what do you think? This is the beginning of my story, I'll still be writing The Curse, The Reader and The Map That Changed Everything aswell if you like to read that. But this I think will be a better story, more planning has gone in to it.
