Trapped Thoughts

He clenched his jaw and ran a hand through his ruffled hair.

"The Doctor and I were friends once believe it or not." He stated.

"Yeah, I've.....I've heard that part." I said tenderly, wary of my words.

He gazed down, recalling his memories. "I wanted to burn all the planets in the galaxy." He began. "The Doctor didn't approve."

I huffed a laugh. "Not many people would."

"No, of course not. But you'd think they'd want to at least know why. Put in some effort to try and understand."

My hands started to sweat a little. I knew that what I was about to hear could change my perception of his grotesque monster before me into a gentle, feeling, human.

He gulped. "They took me when I was only a mere child. Forced me to stare into...." his voice trailed off into nothingness. The thought was too much for him.

"I saw darkness, and death, all of it. But what my eyes saw, was not the curse that would last me eternity." His words wobbled. "The drums...the impending, booming bangs that echoed around my head. That was what I had to carry with me."

He turned to face me. His eyes full of blinding flames, too bright I had to glance down.

"The Lords of Gallifrey." He mocked their title. "It was their doing. They sent me into insanity, they made me like this and the Doctor, well......she didn't care. She was too busy being better at everything. Too busy being perfect." He spat in resentment.

"So you're jealous of her?" I questioned.

He laughed loudly. "There are many things that drive me to hate your beloved Doctor. Jealousy is......one of them."

After a short pause he let out another small, painful laugh. "I mean look at her now. Saving you, from my evilness. All to keep you out of harms way."

He turned away from me. I knew that was all I'd be getting.
It could all be lies, I thought. It could just be a show, an act to make me feel sorry for him, or even just for some sickly entertainment. But I had a feeling it wasn't for those reasons.

He'd had those thoughts trapped in his mind for so long and it was like he'd just released the flood gates and let the water consume him.

Yes. This was the truth. And if he was aiming to make me understand and see his true light.

He had succeeded.
