*Ok so basically this is just a filler-ish chapter so it's skippable, but I wanted to write it and I wasn't able to incorporate it into the story because it would mess up the plotline and ruin the ending I have in mind for this book so I'm writing it here because I don't want to it to slip away from me lol*

Kisuke sprinted as fast as his legs could carry him down the bleak, dimly-lit road. The rain was barely a hindrance as he kept his head high, nothing but Hitoka on his mind as he ran as fast as he could.

How, how, HOW could I have let this happen?! I fucked up, I fucked up, I fucked up so badly....please, blondie, just wait for me.....

It all started with Kisuke taking the biggest risk he had ever taken, bigger than fighting three rapists in that alleyway only two years ago, bigger than defending his girlfriend against his abusive and degrading father who believed she was nothing, bigger than anything he had ever done in his life; and that was proposing to the love of his life, the one and only Hitoka Yachi, right in front of the entire school on their graduation day.

She gladly accepted, and as they kissed beneath the evening sunlight, neither one of them could imagine the horrors that awaited them only days later.

When Kisuke got the text that read, "Your ugly slut of a girlfriend doesn't deserve your hand in marriage, Kisuke, so I'll take her out of the picture for you <3", he cast it aside and assumed it was another jealous stalker with empty threats towards the happy couple.

Little did he know the impact that would have, when he got the call, the bone-chilling call that lonely October night,

"Mr. Uruhai, it says here you are engaged to Miss Yachi, please come as soon as you can to the hospital. Your fiancée is in critical condition. She's been stabbed multiple times and the police are calling it an attempted murder-

He hung up before the doctor could finish. His feet were already moving before he even started thinking again.

He was not going to let her go. He was not going to give up those warm autumn nights together in each other's arms, those gorgeous summer days where Hitoka somehow outshone the midday sun anywhere she went, the angelic giggle she blessed him with anytime he made her laugh. He wasn't ready to lose her so soon. He had so many more memories to make with her.

So he kept running. He never stopped. Not for cars, people, or his bitter tears that flowed freely in sync with the pouring rain.

Hitoka, you better be fucking alright, I'm not losing you so soon, I just fucking won't!

Kisuke smashed open the hospital doors, alerting the doctor at the front desk of his presence.

"WHERE IS SHE?! WHERE IS HITOKA YACHI?!"

".....you must be Kisuke Uruhai, correct?", the doctor asked, putting his hand on the boy's shoulder.

"Y-Yeah, do you know where she is? I-I need to find her, where is she- OI, BLONDIE! CALL OUT IF YOU CAN HEAR ME!"

"....Mr. Uruhai....I'd like you to take a seat.", the doctor gently said as he gripped the boy's shoulder tighter in an effort to make him sit, Kisuke standing tall regardless.

"W-What the fuck, why would I fucking sit right now, I have to find my fiancée, where is she?!", Kisuke retaliated with tears in his eyes. Where is Hitoka? Why won't this man tell him where she is? Where is the girl he's supposed to marry?

So many questions in Kisuke's head, so little answers.

"....Mr. Uruhai, there's no.....need to search for her anymore....."

Kisuke flared up at those words and shoved the doctor away.

"WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU MEAN, THERE'S NO NEED, WHERE THE FUCK IS SHE?!"

Kisuke sprinted off down a hallway, the doctor calling security with them fast approaching.

Door after door. Hall after hall. Nurse after nurse, patient after patient. Kisuke barged into every room, desperately searching for her, a sinking feeling in his stomach carving into him with every failure.

Where, where, where are you, blondie?! I need you here, I need you now, more than fucking ever....

His mind, racing at a thousand miles, grinded to a halt when he finally saw her.

With a flatline and shut eyes.

The doctor ran behind him soon after, his eyes softening when he saw the defeated, no, broken look in Kisuke's eyes as he stared blankly at Hitoka.

".....the blade struck a major artery in her leg, it was too late when the ambulance got there, she had lost too much blood....."

Kisuke chuckled softly. He didn't know what else to do. What was there to do? What was there to say? She was gone. Gone for good. Never to return.

"......sometimes I think god put her in my life, doctor....."

".....and why is that, Mr. Uruhai....?"

".....so I could experience heaven on earth, of course....why else would he put an angel like her in my life?"

".....I'm deeply sorry, Mr. Uruhai, I will give you some time to grieve..."

The doctor shut the door behind him. It was just him and her again. Just like old times.

Gripping her cold, lifeless hand in his own, Kisuke pressed his forehead against it, and let his tears flow.

"This wasn't supposed to happen, blondie......it's all my fucking fault.....I put you in harm's way, and look at what happened....."

He looked at at her for the last time, and the remains of his shattered heart blew out of his chest when his oak-brown and grey eyes didn't meet energetic, vibrant, beautiful doe eyes in return, only meeting hooded eyelids and the empty dreams and aspirations he had for the future locked away, never to be opened again.

"Do you remember when we beat Shiratorizawa in your first Interhigh, blondie? It was such an amazing day for us, it was when I kissed you in front of the team. You were so happy that day, blondie. I was too. It was that day, that was the day I knew I was going to marry you and be with you forever.....but now look at us. God put you in my path, just to strip you away. I lost you, the one fucking person I never wanted to lose. I made so many fucking promises to you, I wonder if you even remember half of them. I promised I would give you two kids, a quiet life away from my family's wealth, a simple life for just you and I. Fuck, all those promises are broken now...."

Hitoka was gone.

"Remember when you told me that love changes, remembers and never gives up on you, blondie? How you said that no matter what happens, you would never give up on me, on us? What happened to that, huh? Because to me, this is giving up. So please, Hitoka. Don't give up just yet. I fucking need you here with me."

She wasn't going to wake up.

"Do you not remember when you said you wouldn't forget me? Are you forgetting the love we had or something? You can't leave me here without you, blondie, you don't do this to people you love...."

If this was true pain, true heartbreak, if this hollow, colourless feeling was genuine hurt then Kisuke had never known true pain in his entire life.

"Hitoka.....please, please, wake up......just say you love me one more time....just once is enough......Just...say something......"

He never let go of her again. He did, however, learn something when he bawled into the hand of the one girl who had managed to give him all the stars in the night sky, never to hear her say 'I love you, Kisuke Uruhai' ever again.

If love changes you, then pain destroys you.

*I literally wrote this at 11:30 pm so this might not be as sad as I'd like to be and if it's not then I'll probably have edited it sooner rather than later*
