Jung Household, 11:50pm

lily took a sip of her drink as she watched the people dance. she looked at the clock, sighing to herself. the bartender looks at her.

"you seem upset about something." lily looks at him. "i'm not interested." he laughs. "i know. i'm not here to try and date you. i'm gay."

she hums. "so, what's wrong? you know you can talk to me, i'm kinda used to that." lily took another sip of her drink.

"i don't wanna talk about it, sorry." he nods. "i understand." he says, wiping the glasses clean. "lily, hey." she looks at the person beside her, seeing elise.

"you weren't outside so i came to get you." she hums. "i don't really feel like going out. i think i'd just stay here." elise sighs. "summer's looking for you."

she sighs, throwing her red cup away. "fine. let's go." the two went outside, and lily looks at the clock again.

11:52pm

"damn it.." she mumbles, and elise looks at her. "what was that?" she shook her head. "nothing." they reached where the sisters and alice were.

"is the fireworks starting?" alice smiled. "almost. lily! i thought you didn't wanna come?" she sighs. "elise made me come."

"are you okay? you seem off.." lily hums. "i'm okay. i was just tired from filming last night. the alcohol helped though." alice nodded.

"alright, what are you guys really?" alice asked, and lily and summer both look at her. "one second, you look like a couple, then another you look like strangers."

"we're da—" "friends. we're friends." lily cut summer off, making the two sisters look at her. "what? but—" "we're friends, summer. nothing more, nothing less."

"i thought you were dating, it's okay, you know? no harm in that." lily hums. "but we're not." summer scoffs. "bullshit. this is bullshit."

"was 6 months nothing to you, JiU?" lily noticed the people looking. "i'm not JiU. i'm only JiU when the cameras are on and i have a big smile on my face."

"then, am i nothing to you, lily?!" summer grabbed her collar. "do friends have little dates? do friends kiss and say i love you to each other? is that your definition of friends?!"

"i told you, i wouldn't tell her. i didn't run away from you, but why are you running away now?!" lily looks at the clock again.

11:58pm

"i don't know, summer. maybe it's the fact that i know you're still in love with my best friend and she loves you too?!" summer let go of her.

"what? i-i.." lily looks away from her. "what kind of shit love triangle is this?!" aaliyah frowned. "i..i told lily about my feelings. it all makes sense now."

"what?" alice sighed. "we were out drinking in japan, i told lily that i liked summer, and it was like she was poured with ice cold water."

"she left early and literally disappeared on me for like two weeks. when she came back, it was the week before we had to fly back here."

"but she went home first when we agreed we'd fly back together. i get it now." aaliyah says. "should i get summer away from lily?"

"i think she's waiting for midnight. new year's kiss." they both looked towards summer when they heard a loud slap.

"how dare you accuse me of something i never did in the span of 6 months?!" lily had her hand raised in the air. "i told you, i wouldn't stop you if you ran."

"but to accuse me of cheating on you? that's where i draw the line." summer glared at her. "what do you expect me to think after you avoided me like that?!"

"what did you expect me to do when i knew that my best friend had feelings for you too?! did you expect me to get over it?!"

summer went quiet. "that's what i thought." lily was about to walk away, when summer grabbed her wrist and pulled her in for a deep kiss.

just then, the clock struck 12 and all the other couples kissed. after the fireworks passed the nine of them went to the pool. "that was intense."

maya comments, and summer nods. "i..need air." lily quickly leaves, brushing past both summer and aaliyah. "well you officially blew that, summer."

"go after her." alice nudged summer, who just stared at lily's disappearing figure. "what are you waiting for? go!" aaliyah pushed her sister, but summer stayed rooted to the ground.

"i'll go after her. summer, fix this." elise said, running after her cousin. "you're useless." violet says, as summer sighed. "can we just go? please?"

"you have to fix this." aaliyah says, and summer nods. "i will..just..give us time.." aaliyah sighed, shaking her head. "why did it get so messy anyway?"

"i don't know..we were fine up until today.." summer muttered, looking down as alice put her arm around her. "talk to her, dude. i know lily is a handful sometimes.."

"but her heart's been broken a ton of times and it's hard for her to trust people. i hope you understand.." summer huffs. "she's just being difficult sometimes."

"yeah, she is. but i know she loves you. i see it in her eyes. i hope you don't let this be the end, dude. lily won't be in korea for long."

"what? why didn't she tell me that?" alice shrugged. "she has some work commitment in japan. she's leaving in three days, i think."

"are we hopeless, alice?" alice shook her head. "of course not! you and lily have come a long way, just talk it out."

"i promise you she'll be there to listen to you. lily isn't the type to hold a grudge. you saw how she acted, she chose to step away even when she's mad."

"she was mad?" alice sighed. "more on hurt, actually. but it doesn't matter! just talk it out with her! don't be like her."

"her?" alice looks at summer. "oh, no one important. plus, it isn't my business so i cant tell you. lily will probably skin me alive if you knew from me."

"just talk it out, okay? don't be scared of lily. she literally wouldn't do anything to hurt you. except when she slapped you a while ago."

"shut it, alice." alice snorts at summer's frown. "don't be so bitter, it's not that big of a deal!" summer rolls her eyes. "whatever. i'll talk to her tonight."

"well, better hurry because i just saw lily's car leave." summer's eyes widened. "what?! where?!" alice points at the silver maserati leaving the parking lot. "over there."

summer swore she's never ran that fast in her life.
