over the course of their engagement, i saw less and less of iwa-chan than i would have liked. asaji somehow mustered up the brain cells needed to simultaneously keep him away from me and make me basically plan their entire wedding.

i barely saw him in the months leading up to the wedding, just occasionally meeting up in a coffeehouse or his house to talk for a few minutes. i felt like i was losing him.

asaji was a beautiful woman, soft brunette locks tumbling down her back with little curls at the ends. she had sharp brown eyes, a thin upper lip with a plump lower lip, and two beauty marks underneath her upturned nose.

not that i found any part of her beautiful after she called me a few colorful homophobic slurs...

over time, i stopped trying to hold onto the last bit of warmth iwa had always radiated and resigned myself to the fact that i was going to be cold forever.
