Chapter 3: Carnival

Astrid POV

"Mommy? Are we going to the Carnival today?" I asked Mom while hugging her in the bed.

"Yes baby. Aren't you excited?" she replied smiling. It's been a month since nagkaroon kami ng bonding ni Mommy kasama si Dad because he's always busy with the business which is I already knew if what kind of business is this. He said he will make it up to me today because that incident happened last wek and we will go to a Carnival like that he have been telling me before.

"Hey Astrid come here" Dad mumbled when he's done fixing his tie. Tumakbo ako papunta sa kanya at niyakap niya ako.

"Dad I'm so excited to go there!" sabi ko sa kanya at ngumiti ng napakalawak. Dad just chuckled because of my childishness well you can't blame me because I'm only child and they are spoiling me.

"Yes Astrid but when your baby brother will come out from your Mom's womb you will take care of him, alright?" Dad mumbled. Wait, a baby brother?

"I'm pregnant Astrid and you will become a big sister to him anytime soon" My Mom said. I didn't expect this but it brought me a so much joy.

"Really Mom? Yehey!" I exclaimed in happiness. Sa wakas magkakaroon na ako ng kapatid and I will make sure that I'm gonna teach him to ride a bike.

"Yes baby. So ready kana ba for the Carnival?" Dad asked me while smiling from ear to ear. I just nodded to them and we immediately go out in our house. We ride our car with the driver.

"Dad? Why do we have bodyguards? May gusto ba manakit sa atin that's why we have bodyguards to protect us?" I asked him curiously but he just gave a me a quick smile.

"I'll explain to you when you grow up, okay? But for now be a good girl" he replied and tap my head.

Nakarating kami sa Carnival and I'm so happy because there are so many rides to ride on at may mga clowns and magician! Our bodyguards are everywhere but I just neglected them because I want to enjoy today's event dahil minsan lang to mangyari kasi busy nga si Daddy. Pumunta ako sa horse ride at sumakay doon, walang mapaglagyan ang saya na nararamdaman ko ngayon dahil dito. I bought an ice cream and it's so annoying dahil sumasabit ito sa braces ko but I need this to make my teeth straight even though I get bullied because of this at School.

"Baby are you good?" Mom asked me while I'm watching this clown do the magic trick. Ang galing niya at napalakpak ako noong may lumabas na ibon sa kanyang sumbrero. I felt something wrong in a sudden, I glance to my surroundings but there are no suspicious things to see until I look to the top of the building nearby because I saw something sharp and bright but I just ignore it afterwards.

"Vivian!" narinig kong sigaw ni Daddy noong nakita ko lamang na nakahiga si Mommy sa lupa at wala ng buhay.

"Mommy please wake up!" I exclaimed crying while trying to wake her up. She got shot at hindi ko alam parang may humihila sakin na tumingin sa building ulit and I saw the SWAT Uniform up there and they're like fighting. I don't have any idea why they did this but I'll promise to myself that I will find out.

Maraming nakiramay sa funeral ng Mommy ko and I can see how devastated my Father is when my Mother died in his hands. Halos minsan nalang siya kumain sa isang araw at nakikita kong namamayat siya dahil sa ginagawa niya. I'm also hurt because of what happened pero nanaig sa akin na alamin ang katotohanan.

I saw a familiar girl outside in my Mom's funeral and she looks like she doesn't have any plans to go inside. I go out and to her surprised I'm already in front of her eating my lollipop.

"Are you my Mom's friend? Bakit hindi ka pumasok?" I asked humbly. She was stunned for a seconds before she recovered herself from shocked. Weird.

"Ahh no. Napadaan lang ako dito dahil nakita ko sa balita" sagot niya at tila'y naiilang tumingin sakin.
