Music is the key

Chapter 9 (James)

I lean back in my chair letting my gaze slide to the window while Ms Clarin droned on about something to do with the Romans. Honestly history was boring. I look up at the clock. 10 minutes. Just 10 minutes until lunch and I could apologise to Bella.

The clanging of the bell sounded and I leaped up shoving my books into my bag and running out the door towards my locker. After throwing my books in the locker I make my way to the cafeteria. I line up to get the pasta they are serving for lunch. Despite what other schools are like, our food is pretty delicious.

I Immediately head over to our usual table in the corner and am pleased to find Bella talking to Charlotte. I go to place my tray down next to her but Carmen beats me to it so I slip in next to Charlotte as Sophie and Cin come towards us bickering.

"Yoshi is clearly the best Mario kart character!" Sophie all but yells at Cin as she slips in next to me.

"What the hell are you talking about. Bowser is the best!" Cin shoots back.

"I'm guessing you two just had the last lesson together?" Charlotte rubs her forehead obviously fed up with their endless fighting.

"English." They answer together, then proceed to glare at each other.

"I pity their teacher." Bella says. I look at her and she looks straight back at me. I can see the hurt in her eyes obviously from the 'conversation' we had in the car.

"Bella, can I talk to you?" I ask her slowly. She nods and stands, I do to and lead her out of the cafeteria.

"Bella I'm so sorry for bringing up that topic earlier. I had no idea and should have kept my mouth shut. Please forgive me." I beg. She just looks at me. I can't read her expression so I have no idea what she's thinking.

"I forgive you." She finally says.

"Thank you." I say giving her a quick hug. "Now come on. What subject do you have next?" I ask as I pull her back towards the cafeteria.

"I have a piano lesson and then a free period." She says happily. "Oh and then English." She pulls a face.

"What don't you like English?" I tease knowing full well she hates it. She just gives me an 'are you serious' glare then sits back down at the table.

"You are both so wrong the fantasy bras last year were the best!" Carmen claps her hands excitedly. A fantasy what?! I choke on the biscuit in my mouth.

"I still think the Gilded Angels section was the best." Charlotte says.

"Mhmm" Sophie nods her mouth stuffed full of pasta.

"Okay. I'm leaving." I stand to leave the cafeteria.

"See you." Bella says with a smile. I grin back at her.

I walk out on of the cafeteria towards my locker. The hallways are pretty much abandoned since everyone's at lunch. I open my locker and begin to pull my books out.

"Who's your hot friend?" I turn to face the one and only Angus Gale, the schools player.

"I don't know who you're talking about." I say coldly slamming my locker door shut.

"The brunette chick who was with you at lunch." He smirks.

"Her names Bella."

"Bella." He says the name slowly like he's tasting something new. "I definitely like that."

"You stay away from her." I glare at him, my whole body shaking with anger.

"Or what?" He says. "You're gonna beat me up? I was always stronger then you." He turns and walks away from me. I punch my locker, anger tearing through me as the bell rings.

"I will have her." Angus calls from down the hall an evil gleam in his eye. Students begin to pour into the hallway and he disappears like a ghost.
