Chapter 4 - I'm Scared

"Don't wait to see what doesn't last."

"And he just blew you off ?"

"Yeah, cause she's his friend or whatever.", I say to the girls. It was now Wednesday, meaning we had cheer practice. The girls and I were stretching and exercising before coach Reynolds got here. She's the best coach.

As we did our daily stretches, I told the girls about me and Lucas. I told them how I mentioned Kendra to him and how he just blew me off. They weren't happy at all. "I can see me kicking his ass right about now.", Nicole said. "You all know how gullible Lucas is. Plus, she probably doesn't even know that Lucas and Luan are together yet.", Rina said.

"Yet. And when she does, she's gonna do some crazy shit.", Nicole said. "Lucas honestly shouldn't have said that to you.", Kimberly said. "Yeah, he should be a good boyfriend and stop talking to her.", Carmen said. I shake my head. "I mean, she was rude to me. I don't understand how he missed that part.", I say softly.

Rina rubs my back gently. I gave her a small smile. I needed the comfort. Soon, Coach Reynolds showed up, and she showed up with Kendra. "Alright ladies, we got a new member on the team.", she then said. My heart started to pound. "Everyone, I'm sure you've met Kendra, who just transferred from Aquinas Academy."

"That's that private college.", Nicole whispered to us. "Luan, how about you come over and introduce yourself.", Coach said. I stood up and walked over to her and Kendra. "This is Luan, our team captain.", Coach said. "Oh, we've met !", Kendra said with a fake smile on her face. "Well, I'm sure you two will get along just fine.", Coach said before walking away.

Kendra then gave me a smug look. I think she's trying to compete with me. I don't know why. She doesn't even know me. "Alright ladies, let's get started !", I say. All the girls stood up so we could start. "Today, we're going to be learning a new routine that I came up with.", I tell them.

"I call it the Pilot.", I tell them as I smile at all of them. "One of us is getting thrown in the sky !", Rina said excitedly. "Really ?", Nicole asked me. Then all the girls started to chatter and told me to pick them. "Listen, everyone will get a turn to get thrown in the air. But we're starting the routine off with Kimberly since she's the lightest.", I say.

"Yay !", Kim said as she squealed. "Alright, so now that we've stretched, how about we learn this routine ?", I suggest. The girls clap and we start. We start with a chant I made up. We do the moves and then we go into a big circle in which this was the part where Kimberly would be thrown in the air. The more girls, the more strength we had to throw one girl in the air.

"Alright girls, you guys did good for the beginning parts of the routine but now it's time for the big part that everyone is gonna love.", I say. "Everyone form a big circle and Kim, please get in the middle.", I tell them. "Ouu I'm so excited.", Kimberly said as she danced her way into the circle.

Everyone then started to grab hands. I felt someone roughly grab mine. I looked around to see who it was. I looked straight forward and Kendra was looking at me with nothing but evil on her face. I sighed and tried to ignore her. "Alright Kim, step on our hands and we'll throw you.", I tell Kimberly. "And be prepared because it's going to be pretty high."

"I'm soooo ready for this.", Kimberly said as she started to step on our hands. She stood up and then did the cheer, and as we were about to lift her up, I felt someone scratch my hand. "Ow !", I yelled as I pulled my hand up, causing Kimberly to fall through the other girls hands and hit the ground.
