Chapter 12 - You Were My Best Friend First

"I still love you."

A MONTH LATER......

Time has passed and everything has died down. Me and Eric were no longer together but we still hung out. He kept his word about being there for me no matter what. We promised to stay great friends and we were living by it. But it was now Christmas break. Me and Rina we're heading back home to visit our parents since they lived in the same town.

The same town we all went to high school in. The same town happiness started for me. I missed this place. Rina drove my car as I sat in the passenger side. Our things were in the back of the car. "So you and Eric ?", Rina asked me softly. "We're no longer together.", I say. "I loved him and our time together was wonderful but I wasn't in love with him."

"I understand. But we could all tell he truly loved you.", Rina said. "Yeah, and Lucas. I don't know. He's smart but when it comes to women, he's completely stupid.", I say. "All this was like losing him to Maggie all over again, except this Maggie was more mean and rude."

"It's crazy how she has red hair too. I always forget.", Rina said. We both then chuckled. I then sigh. "I still love him but I'm still hurt. I'm just not ready to take him back yet.", I say softly. "And that's totally fine. You don't owe anyone an explanation.", she said. The car then stopped. We had made it to Rina's house. We both got out the car and I helped her get her things out my car.

After that, we shared a hug. "I'll see you later ?", I ask her. "Most definitely.", she says to me. "And just think about what you truly want. And take your time, you have a whole life ahead of you."

She kisses my cheek and then goes inside her house. I get inside my car and drive home to my mother. Me and my mother weren't on good terms when I was younger. My dad left us just after I was born so I have no idea who he is and I don't have a care because I'm fine without him as you can see. But, my mom was angry with him for years and she always took it out on me.

After we moved to this town, and months after I had met Lucas, our relationship got better. Now, everything is healthy and I love it. I park my car in our driveway and I get out. I grab my things from out of the car and bring it up to the door. I used my house key and unlocked the door. I walked in with my stuff and shut the door behind me.
