NINE :: GUESS WHO'S BACK

Summer's POV

I heaved the last box below the racks and straightened up,cradling my back.

Char was sitting, cross legged on a whirling chair and obviously having the best time giving instructions and doing absolutely nothing.

"Hang the last dresses in that lime colored dresser over there and flip the coming soon sign so people can know we're finally open" She added to the already long to do list for just me and I rolled my eyes.

"Why don't you move your ghost ass and set things right huh? You're faster remember?" I snapped and she let out a long laugh, almost tripping off the chair and I literally turned redder.

"Bitch!" She chortled and got up, grabbing the leather dresses and hanging them according to their colors.

"Finally making yourself useful" I tittered before going to flip the sign. I sighed looking at the Rhinestone crested "CHAR - MER".

Merging our names was a good idea afterall.

I swirled happily as a young girl crossed over to our side of the road and started walking towards the shop.

I ran, feeling giddy, back to where Char was to tell her when I saw her holding a dress to her face and sniffing aloud. She was crying!

"Charlotte?!" I put a hand on her shoulder and turned her around.

"Are you okay?" I wiped a tear from her face and she managed a smile.

She nodded and pulled out a photograph of her in middle school, it had been in the pocket of her then favorite coat.

"Wow.. How come you've never shown me this?" I asked, cleaning the picture with my thumb.

"Just found it." she primed quietly and turned in the direction of the doorbell to hide a tear.

I was going to pull her back when we heard a shrill voice calling for anyone here?!

I threw on a smile and strolled as professionally as I could to her.

"Good afternoon ma'am, how're you doing? How can I help you?"

"Maybe she's wants you to top her gas... or renew her pedicures. How fucking else do you think you can help, dumbass" Char jeered and I stifled a burst of laughter.

I was pretty sure I was crimson right now.

"I saw your sign and honestly, I've been anticipating your opening."She smiled and I "awwwn - ed".

She moved towards the spaghetti dress racks and proceeded to make her choice. I turned back to Char and winked happily.

I was excited to make our first sale. Char gave me a thumbs up and I made to look back at the girl when Char's face registered shock and fear.

The last thing I heard before darkness enveloped me was Char's scream.

"Summer!"

Char's POV

Summer turned and winked at me, clearly excited about making our first sale.

I gave a thumbs up and then something caught my eye. The girl glitched and her free body fell to the floor. A hazy shadow moved rapidly towards Summer and before I could reach for her. She jerked like she'd been hit by something and slumped.

"Summer!" I yelled and fell down beside her.

The girl looked around frightened and  confused.

"How'd I get here?" She muttered.

I turned back to any trace of the shadow and found nothing.

I cradled Summer and cried. I had no idea what the heck just happened.

"It hurts right?"I heard a familiar voice and I stopped, fear chilling my spine.. It couldn't be.

I turned and there he was, looking the same as the time I had murdered him.

With trembling legs, I shifted away from him still trying hard to think of how he didn't fade completely.

"What did you do to her?" I screamed and he shook his head.

"Nothing" he answered quietly and moved towards me.

"I only spaced her out" he explained and I glanced at her. I didn't feel anything at all. no pain from her, nothing!

"I thought you were gone.. Faded.. How did you?..." I trailed off as he moved really close to me and muttered with a soft smile.

"Well, look who's back."

Who saw this coming?
