Char's POV

I heaved and stared at the people walking around the busy streets, clutching the plastic half heart in my palm. A group of kids, an old couple that reminded me of the people that had lived in our house before Summer moved in.

"If not for me, you'd be dead! Dead dead and not hovering around"

Fresh tears sprang to my eyes and I sniffed. A familiar feeling washed over me. Thesame feeling I had been living with before Summer came, that sinking feeling of being alone and not being able to fade anytime soon.

I wiped my moist eyes and glanced around the street once more. A school bus stopped and a group of girls trooped out. Some had unusual colors in their hair and they were laughing so loud at something.

I smiled involuntarily at the memories it brought back.

I looked on as they parted ways, waving and shouting goodbyes. I sighed and felt homesick. Summer would be worried about me or maybe she wouldn't be. Maybe she'd move on easily cause she had Mark.. maybe she wouldn't. Mark was her boyfriend and I,her sister. Still, something felt off, in my heart, I wanted Bernard but in my head, I knew Summer was all that mattered.

Maybe she was feeling bad for what she'd said. Maybe she needed me.

I stood up and decided to go home. That was the only way I'd know if I was still wanted around.

Summer's POV

I flopped on the bed and sniffed repeatedly. If Char was gone, she'd be more likely to fade faster. I wished I hadn't been rude to her. I should have tried to understand.

It was true. Maybe she did need Deon, maybe they could be friends again I mean it wasn't like he could hurt her now.

I had been in bed for almost an hour when I heard the door creak open and I opened my eyes.

Char was standing there, by the door and staring at me.

Tears brimmed my eyes and i literally jumped at her in a tight almost crushing hug.

"Char!" I cried loudly and she hugged me back, patting my back.

"I'm so sorry I disrespected you.. I'm sorry" I begged and I heard her chuckle.

She gently pushed away and wiped tears from my face.

"I shouldn't have left... A good sister wouldn't have" She smiled and I shook my head.

"I'm just glad you came back. I thought you were gone forever." I sniffed, squeezing her hands.

"I just realized you're all that matters and I need you"

"We need each other" I piped up and she grinned, looking happy.

I snuggled into her warmth and breathed deep.

"Promise me Char, that nothing would ever come between us" I said and she sighed.

"I promise"

It was a day after the one year anniversary of "Char-mer" and Char and I were still excited.

The turn up was awesome and everything was bought off the racks. We put in a great deal of effort and it paid off.

Char and I were considering relocating to a different place, start a new life, another outlet and enroll me in school.
