"Blood of the coven is thicker then the water of the womb."

Germany sat in the lounge room across from Reich. Much to the younger's dismay Reich had locked Poland in his room for the night.
"He isn't a child, he shouldn't be locked in his room at night." Germany said. His eyes trailed his Gramdfather's body, looking for any sign of remorse.
"Deutschland, if I kept it open he'd try to escape. Well, if he didn't value his wings he would." Reich said. His eyes read through today's paper.

"Don't you think this is unfair? What did Poland ever do to you?" Germany said as he crossed his arms. He hated the fact that he was still defending his Grandfather but he didn't have much of a choice. If he didn't both his father and Grandfather would be criminals and he hoped the apple fell far from the tree.
"Polen and I are... well, It's hard to say. Deutschland you must understand something." Reich said. His eyes slowly looking up at Germany.
"I told your father this too. I am not letting go of my angel. Capturing him was harder then capturing lightening in a bottle." Reich continued. Germany stared at Reich.

Anger boiled in the younger, he hated his family. His father, his grandfather and his Auntie- well, she was alright. Germany didn't mind his auntie as she was the 'nice' one. She wasn't as strict as Reich nor as murderous as Third. Germany always wondered if God was on his side as much as he was on his Auntie's side.
"What are you thinking about Deutschland?" Reich asked. Germany sighed and closed his eyes. He didn't want to be considered weak but he knew his Grandfather might understand.
"I miss Holy. I miss the way she smiles, the way she danced and her baking. Definitely her baking."

Reich looked at the boy with pity. He too missed his mother. The Holy Roman Empire was the gem of Europe. She was unmatched when it came to beauty and grace. If the Commonwealth hadn't got involved she would still be here, baking, dancing and smiling. Maybe that was why Reich hated Poland with every fibre of his being. He wanted to crush his little angel like a bug. He had taken his wings and his dignity, all he needed was the boy's smile.
"I miss her too Deutschland. Every day. One day, we will meet her again. Maybe not today, tomorrow or the next but one day you will see her smile."

Germany looked up at his grandfather. He knew what he said was true. He sighed and gently hugged Reich, he didn't want Poland to get hurt but he knew if anyone found out Reich would be imprisoned.
"What are we going to do about Poland?" Germany asked. Reich thought for a moment before resting his newspaper on the table.
"I was thinking about a suitable punishment before we take him out of town and finish the job." Reich said, gently rubbing Germany's hand. Germany nodded, knowing that this is what had to be done.

"What if someone finds his body?" Germany asked quietly. Reich stroked the younger's cheek and kissed his forehead.
"You steer the search party away from the woods when they come looking. The wolves and I will deal with the rest." Reich said as he comforted the country. He knew it must be hard for Germany. He was after all, turning slowly into his father but Reich would never tell him that.
"What if they catch us?" Germany asked, still uncomfortable with the idea of murder.
"If they catch us, you claim innocence and I will back your story. Do you understand?"

"Yes Grandfather. I'm sorry, I just... I am... I'm not sure about this?" Germany said. His eyes close softly as he tries not to imagine Poland's last moments. He didn't want Poland to die but he also didn't want Reich to go to jail.
"All in good time Deutschland. Now, go to a friends or go home. You can't stay here." Reich said as he wrapped Germany's scarf around his neck. Germany smuggled his face into the warm scarf and nodded softly.
"Ja, Großvater. (Yes, Grandfather)." Germany said before grabbing his jacket and exiting through the back door.

Reich locked the door behind Germany's exit and sighed. He knew it would be tough for Germany to keep his mouth shut. Now he had more important matters at hand. He closed the blinds and locked the windows. He needed privacy for the last punishment he was to give before ended his game. Reich laid plastic sheets down on the floor and sat a knife down on the table.
"Mother, your life is about to be avenged. One day I will see you again, but now you must help me finish it." Reich whispered to the knife.

Poland sat in his room at his desk. He was writing a long message to France, Britain and Russia. He knew whatever Reich was doing was ending. He knew it wouldn't be good for him when it did. He wrote about Germany and how he was just like his father Third. He wrote about the hell he had been living through and how Switzerland has done nothing.
"God damn it Switzerland... contact someone for me..." Poland whispered quietly. He rubbed his left wing softly before plucking one of his feathers. He folded his letter and placed it on his bed with the feather resting on top.

Reich opened the door and looked at Poland. Poland flung around, hiding the letter behind his body.
"Downstairs for your punishment. You don't think I forgot about you texting Deutschland now did you?" Reich said, his voice cold. Poland shivered at the thought of another punishment. The aching memory erupted in his stomach.
"I'm sorry... I- I wasn't thinking... please- don't..." Poland whispered, knowing his begging was useless.
"Now Polen." Reich said as he grabbed the boy's wrist before dragging him downstairs.

Poland looked at the plastic sheets on the floor as he was dragged into the room. It was dim since the curtains had been shut. Why were the curtains shut? He never shut them.
"Lay down on your back. Close your eyes." Reich said, his hands shaking with excitement. Poland did as Reich ordered, hoping if he complied Reich would be nicer. The plastic was cool under his back, his wings stretched out.
"Polen you look gorgeous. I wish you listened to me when you had the chance. However, now that I think of it, it probably wouldn't have changed your fate."

Reich grabbed the knife off the table and sat on Poland's stomach. Poland gasped as pain shot through his body, the cuts weren't healed completely.
"You are being dramatic Polen. Honestly." Reich said. Poland gritted his teeth as he tried to be good for Reich, maybe he'd change his mind before he started the punishment.
"I-... I'm sorry- Ahh-!" Poland said, trying his best to hold a scream. Reich gently stroked his cheek, not in a comfort but in dominance.

Slowly Reich brought the knife down against Poland's cheek. Carving a curve in the right cheek, creating a half smile. Blood ran down Poland's face and started pooling on the plastic. Poland wanted to cry, scream and vomit at the same time. He felt the warmth of his own blood on his skin. He tasted metal in his mouth. Poland turned his head to the side and vomited up his lunch. Reich looked down at the country under him. Reich wanted to laugh at how weak and useless Poland looked. He want to laugh at how easily he brought the country down. Reich held Poland's forehead to keep his face up as he carved the next curve on the right. The permenant smile was complete.

"What a pathetic excuse for a country."

Reich grabbed the now unconscious country and wrapped him in a blanket. He needed to be quick about this, he knew either Germany or Switzerland would call the police. He shoved Poland's mangled body in the boot of the car before starting the engine.
"Not long now Mother." Reich whispered. He pulled out of the driveway and started heading towards the woods. He knew the wolves would make quick work of Poland once Reich had done the deed.
"Not long at all..." Reich whispered.

Reich pulled into a parking lot and pulled Poland out of the boot. Poland was still covered by the blanket however the freezing winds of winter woke him.
"Let... go..." Poland whispered as he struggled weakly. Reich held a chuckle and continued waking deeper into the forest. They walked for sometime as Poland fell in and out of consciousness.
"It's time Polen. It's time for me to let go." Reich rested Poland on the snowy ground. Poland looked at Reich in a confused way, he wasn't sure what was going on.

Reich looked at the boy who he had tortured for the past few weeks. He was anxious for the ending. He had comforted Germany but who was going to comfort Reich? What was he talking about? His mother would come to his aid when he would need her.
"Our time together has been fun Polen. I wish for you to find peace wherever you find yourself. Now. Look around Polen, these are your last moment in this mortal realm." Reich said, loading a pistol. Poland shivered and looked around, hoping that he was joking.

There was a gun shot.

Poland felt pain in his chest.

Poland fell onto his back.

His eyes trailed up to the sky.

The snow stuck to his arms and legs.

His eyes widened.

Just above him.

Was a sky full of stars.
