Matthew-

The shutter on my camera goes off again as I watch the bird begin its flight. It goes off again when I see a doe grazing with her fawn in the snow-laden clearing beyond the woods. The final time I let it go off is when the noon day sun shadows the forest at just the right angle for the camera to pick it up.

There's something relaxing about a silent, well, nature filled, setting and capturing the image forever. I scroll back through the pictures and see a final shot to take. An owl sleeping and a fox slinking about. I quickly snap two pictures and the fox races deeper into the woods. My back pocket buzzes when my phone goes off.

"Bella: R u coming home soon?"

I check the time on the message, CRAP. I promised her I'd be home a half hour ago. I turn off my camera and pocket my phone after shooting a message that I'd be home soon and I was on my way.

"There you are." Bella says, "Thought you got lost."

"Not physically." I answer. "Lost behind the camera in my own world."

"How are they?" She asks curiously.

"They're good." I answer. "After I'm done editing them I'll get the human shots."

"Sounds amazing Matty." She says smiling proudly, "Well, I'll be here if you need a subject."

"I'm counting on it." I answer, "Do you know where Lace is? I haven't seen her yet today."

"As far as I know she's still sleeping." Bella says, "She got in late last night from a field trip apparently. I haven't seen her yet."

"It's almost dinner time, aren't you a little worried she hasn't woken yet?"

"If you keep dinner going, I'll go check on her." Bella says, "But I'm sure she's fine. Probably just exhausted. She got in later than I did last night."

Arabella puts down the utensils she was using to make dinner. She hands me the recipe and wipes her hands on the dish towel before walking out of the kitchen. Leaving me to figure out dinner. Yippee!
