Arabella-

“Lace,” I call into her room knocking on her closed door. “Lacy,” I try to turn the knob to open the door but find it locked. I run my hand through my hair trying to think straight and calm down. The worry keeping me on edge. I quickly run my hand across the crown molding by the door on the wall to find the spare key. Each room has a little brass key that unlocks the door. A spare is hidden in a wall compartment. If I could just- CLICK. Got it. I reach below the molding and find the key. I quickly unlock her door and put the key back. I quietly walk into her room in case she was asleep. “Lacy, Lace Sweetheart, are you awake?” I walk over to her bed and pull open her canopy. Her bed is made and her pajamas neatly folded on the left foot of her bed. A sudden new sense of panic rushes through me. “MATTY! NOAH!” I scream.

“Bella, what’s wrong?” Noah says painting as he races into her room. “What’s wrong? Why are you in Lacy’s room?”

“Bella, what’s going on?” Matty asks, “Where’s Lacy?”

“I don’t know.” I answer, “I came in and she was gone.”

“She was here before I left,” Noah says, “I checked on her before I left. She was sleeping soundly.” He confirms.

“I can’t believe they broke up,” a very familiar voice says, “They were perfect for each other. Perfect together.”

“Lacy,” Noah breathes a sigh of relief. “Where have you been?”

“Isn’t it just awful that they broke up?” she asks me. I stand shocked.

“Lacy…” Noah repeats worried, I look over to her.

“She’s still sleeping.” I tell Noah.

“She’s talking,” He argues.

“She’s sleep walking, and talking.”

“She’s never done that before.”

“There’s a first time for everything.” Matty says, “She could be anxious about something.”

“What’s there for her to be anxious about? She’s got everything she could need or want.”

“How’s her social life?” I ask him.

“School and sports. Then she’s got her dance team.”

“Let’s leave her alone.” I suggest.

“Will she be okay?” Noah asks worried about his sister and her safety

“She’ll be fine.” I assure him.

“Okay.” He says a bit unsure of himself. “I’ll follow you guys.” He says. Lacy walks over to her bed and goes back to sleeping silently. Matty and I walk out closing the door behind us. I rest against the wall breathing a sigh of relief.

“You know I was really worried.” I tell Matty.

“I know, I could tell by your scream.” Matty says no humor in his voice, face, or eyes. “You have a different scream for different emotions and situations.” He continues emotionless.

“Is dinner ready?” I ask not really wanting to talk about it.

“It was, the guests devoured it,” He says, “But I saved you and Lace some. Come on.” He leads me down to the kitchen where we sit and laugh over dinner.
