This book will contain way more mature scenes than any other book I've written so far, so if you guys like it please leave a comment with your thoughts.

The helpless man stood under the many trees that dropped rain like tears as he held the small crying child in his arms.
His wife just died in the hands of monsters. He remembers the way those long black nails cut up her neck and ripped apart her skin. They made him watch as they tore the ratty clothes off her body. Black wings breaking the skin of their backs- flying after him as he took off into the woods with his 5-year-old daughter.
The man's beard and clothes clung to his skin like a sticky plastic as the heavy rain water soaked in. A thunderclap shook the poor girl's small body as cries echoed from her quivering form. She was scared but too small to understand what was happening, all she knew was that she wanted her mother's warm hold, but she'd never get that again. Her mother was dead.
The father rocked his little girl in his arms, kissing her cold forehead as he sat under a tree willing the beasts to leave. This is a nightmare. He thought. He would make this out alive, he wouldn't let them lay a finger on his daughter.
Growls and roars caused an achy chill to arise on his skin. They realized where he was.
He could hear the booming sound of feet land on the ground and the loud flapping of wings from miles away. The monsters were fast and could fly- atop of all the other reasons they are dangerous.
The father looked over his shoulder and saw the shadows getting closer. Turning to his daughter who couldn't stop crying he brushed her tears away. Reluctantly, he laid her under a tree and covered her in the blanket she held tightly in her small bloody fists.
He had to do this for the only family he had left.
Running away from his daughter and toward the beasts, her cries slowly simmered the further he got. Yet, he was wary. Based on all the recent studies he knew, these monsters had impeccable hearing. And because of these studies, he got too close and knew too much. That's why they were after him.
They got my wife. He remembered and a tear slipped. He clenched his jaw and suddenly he was chest to chest with the beast.
"Hey! Stop!" He screamed frantically waving his arms around to distract them away from the hidden girl. The flying beasts stopped at this unknown action, growling and circling him. Humans ran away from the beasts and never approached them. That's why no one dared to enter the woods. Their territory.
Maybe he was about to go crazier or his daughter was dead, but he couldn't hear her cries anymore.
He stood frozen in fear, forgetting why he came. Claws wrapped around his neck as he met the yellow glowing eyes of the world's most dangerous animal.
"P-please don't kill me." He begged. He shook in his shoes as black nails and unknown fingers trailed up his frightened body. He willed himself to sound strong. Be strong. For his daughter. Sweat trickled down his arms.
"And why should we spare you?" The low rumble was scarier in person, especially on a road to death- one wrong move and his neck would be snapped like a twig.
"B-because I... I can... help!" The man begged and begged but the monsters only laughed at him.
"Help us? You're just a weak human. How can we believe you have anything to offer besides a free meal?" The laughter roared but the fearful man continued to speak. He didn't just spend his life studying these creatures just for it all to go to waste.
"I know you all have medicine based off rare fruit. This forest has been running low on fruit. Your species is soon to die, many go to hospice during the winter." He stated like it was a no-brainer. Trying to muster up confidence in his trembling voice.
The growling jaw of the monster in front of him snapped shut. Shocked upon hearing this information. Thinking; How could a measly human know so much?
The monster holding him captive threw the father's weak body against a tree and dared him to speak another word.
"How do you know this?" The dark-furred monsters demanded, gasps coming from the others that loomed in the shadows.
"I've been studying these woods for years. I mean no harm." He spoke shaking but managed to pull out his notebook.
"I can provide you medicine." He explains. These monster's medicine consisted of different fruits. And since he studied these monsters for years- he came across the seeds.
"Please give me an offer." He begged. The man's lip trembled in fear and sorrow.
The monsters stayed silent like they were waiting for someone. Suddenly, a much larger beast made its way through the crowd and got very close to him. Its black wings flapping loudly. Black feathers falling to the forest floor and a snarling grim face. He could tell the beast was thinking his offer over and could tell he wasn't lying.
"You will provide us medicine. But you are to never leave this forest. We own you now and we'll be watching." He wrapped his claws around the man's neck.
The father nodded quickly shaking under the tight hold. Beasts around him started to groan and complain but were silenced with one growl from the king.
The beast gave him one last look before dropping him to the dirty ground. He watched as some ran while others flew off into the darkness.
He limped back to his daughter who luckily was in the same spot as before, scooped her into his weak arms, and sobbed for the loss of his wife and possibly his daughter's future.
