"Huh?" I blurt out and scare myself with already being so on edge.
I hear a chuckle come from the king and my cheeks glow dark red in embarrassment.
"Abram you have a beautiful daughter." The king complements and before I realize what he's doing he takes my hand and kisses the back of it. He gives me a nod and my cheeks heat up even more. I hear a scoff come from the beast in front of me.
King Dorian, stands up straight and says some more to my father but my ears ring and I hear nothing as all I can focus on is the beast beside his royal father who just so happened to step closer to me.
I look up at his face, the muscles tight in his jaw, and with angry glowing yellow eyes, the prince glares at my hand.
Suddenly he meets my eyes and the shock that was sent through my bones made me feel weak. His scar slightly showing but more covered than when he was sleeping by the creek the last time I saw him.
He towered over me, and the wings behind his back- the same ones I touched before- were wide and an even richer shade of black than I could've remembered.
"Oh forgive me, I never introduced my son." King Dorian says. I train my eyes on him as he takes a step towards my father.
"Prince Everest Dorian," he introduces himself and shakes my father's hand. Everest. He then turns to me as if we've never met before.
"Pleasure to meet you, Miss Locke." He mumbles and I hold my hand out. He looks at it for a few seconds as an awkward tension floats in the air and hangs heavy over our heads the longer I keep my hand out.
He takes my small hand and it's immediately swallowed as his large rough fingers encompass mine. The size comparison would be deemed embarrassing.
I nod and pull my hand away as the handshake goes on for too long. We meet eyes again and the room starts to spin around me. I feel nauseous and hot. He has some curse-like effect on me that makes me want to run and hide, yet it also makes me want him closer and pressed right against me.
My face is still hot, I get distracted and my eyes slowly move across his face. I hear the muffled voices of King Dorian and my Father as they discuss the medicines, but I'm too focused on Everest as the heat still lingering in my hand tingles with a reminder of touch.
I stare at his mouth. His tempting lips with a perfect arch to them. The stubble ran across his jawline in the hottest way possible. I felt the heat between my legs that soaked up my underwear. This feeling was way too new to me and the arousal it left was aching. I lick my lips and go back up to his eyes again. Hopefully, he didn't see my watching-
Just as I have that thought, Everest storms past me, brushing my shoulder. The room falls silent as he angrily walks away.
I look over my shoulder and his back muscles tighten and his dark wings spread out long and gracefully. Only making the problem between my legs worse. I bite my lip hard.
My father and I watch him slam the door shut behind him as he enters the foyer we just came in.
"Excuse the behavior of my son, he's been quite busy lately. On his way to take my place as king in a few months." Charles Dorian laughs to rid the awkward tension in the air.
He waves my father into a room and I stay still. Father squeezes my hand and before I know it they both disappear into the large room. The stone door closes in my face and I stand there for a few more seconds. I take a small step back and think over that whole exchange.
I bite the inside of my cheek. I move to the side and lean my back against the cold wall as I'm finally left alone and for the first time, without my father. I sit on the floor and decide to wait. It would be a bad idea to wander by myself and not with a guard or the king.
