No one expected to be sitting alone with nothing to do during a pandemic, especially me. I'm 20 years old and I have been laid off from my job because of a virus. I can't go outside, I can't see my friends, and now I don't even have a fucking job. Now what?

I spent the beginning of my "quarantine" time looking for a new job, watching tik toks and youtube. I have never felt so unproductive in my life. No one was hiring for work but fortunately, I was collecting the extra $600 of unemployment. It sounds like a win win but that is not the case at all. I was making $800 a month before the world went to shit and now I'm only getting $100 more a month.

If you don't understand how unemployment works, you only get 40-45% of what you were actually making. I used the extra money to pay things off faster and once that was done, I stuck it in a jar and decided to never touch it unless I absolutely have to. My hopes for finding another job dwindled as more time past and was continuously ghosted by employer after employer no matter my effort to try and get them to hire me. I just wanted something to do.

one day, I had gone far into the youtube rabbit hole and came to VR gaming channels. They were funny. I had sat for hours watching video after video of grown men running around in a virtual reality setting. I ended up subscribing to a group of them who regularly play together. Two Australians, a mexican, a voice manipulator, and a Florida man. Yeah, you know the boys.

Everytime they uploaded, it was the highlight of my week. I ended up following all of them on Twitter and Instagram. I oddly found one of them kind of attractive.
