I grabbed my duffle bag full of my snowboarding gear out of my trunk and headed back inside and up to the suite. It took me about 20 minutes to put all of it on except for the jacket and head gear. I grabbed the rest along with the walkie and key and headed back down to get a board. "how's the weather up there?" I asked over the walkie.
"Cold. Nothing like Florida," He answered.
"Damn. So not 75 degrees and sunny?" I laughed.
"No. More like 30 degrees and sunny."
"Well, at least it's sunny." I grabbed a board right for my height and put on the rest of my gear before heading up the lift to meet him.
"Damn. Goth bitches really don't take time off, do they," I heard him say as I slid off of the lift.
"Some, yeah. Me, no," I responded. "And you took big goosey to another level."
"Dude, it's cold and I'm a skinny Florida boy. I need it. I might break going down this."
"You won't break. So, I'm guessing you met my mom?"
"Yeah. Yesterday. She has a very thick southern accent which I wasn't expecting."
"Well, she's from Texas. So you've never been skiing or boarding before?"
"I mean, I know how to skateboard. Can't be much different than that, can it?"
"You're kidding, right?"
"Is it... not... like skateboarding?"
"Guess you'll have to find out." I gave him a push and he started to slide down the hill. As soon as he started moving he started to sway and he lost his balance and fell. I couldn't help but laugh. He only got a few feet away.
"What the hell? I wasn't ready," He yelled. I glided down beside him and helped him up.
"Sorry. That's how I Learned. To put it simple, it's like land surfing. It's a much harder skateboarding. I am, personally, not a good teacher so you're really going to have to figure it out on your own." What came next was a lot of falling and a lot of argervated screaming. It was really entertaining for me as I sat back and watched. He eventually made it to the bottom of the slope with me following suit. "Give me like 10 minutes," I said, handing him my sunglasses and I headed for the lift again.
"Wait, where are you going?" He called out.
"Just get out of the way and watch," I yelled back as the lift carried me higher. When I got to the top of the slope and stared down it, I let out a deep breath and pulled my goggles off of my helmet and over my eyes. "Let's get it." I kissed my fist and raised it. It was a usual thing I did when hitting the slopes like I was about to do. The worker at the top of the slope on a snowmobile advised everyone to hold of until I went down. I waited until the last person came off of the slope then shifted my board to start going down. I took the side path that had plenty of jumps to really show off.
"Holy fuck! That was badass! Where did you learn all of that from?" Gaege commented once I got to the bottom. I had ended up gathering a crowd, half who knew who I was, and the sound of clapping and cheering filled the air.
"My dad. He competed in the X games a few times and taught me to eventually see me compete. Unfortunately, he died of cancer a few years ago so I gave up on that dream in high school. Now boarding is just a winter pass time for me," I answered as I unstrapped the board from my feet.
"I'm sorry... So you're telling me you could have done that professionally?"
"I technically was for a bit. I was signed by the Aspen ski company all of high school hoping I'd go big some day and to encourage younger girls to get into the sport. I ended up dropping it once I graduated and stopped boarding like that." I picked up the board and said hello to some of the people in the crowd.
"No fucking way dude. You should have kept that going. You have single handedly gathered a crowd with one run. None of these people know who the hell I am but you... fuck."
"No, I guarantee some of them know who you are, I'm just cooler." I giggled. He gave me a look that said 'fuck you' which made me laugh a little harder. I took my sunglasses back from him and we turned in the boards. As we walked into the building I stripped half of my gear off.
"Yo! Juicy! Juicyfruitsnacks!" Jake called out from the desk.
"Told you," I smiled. I grabbed Gaege's hand and lead him over to the desk. "Jake, this is Gaege. Gaege this is Jake. I used to call him Jay though."
"Holy fuck! No fucking way!" Jake started to bounce. "It's so good to finally have a conversation with you." Gaege just smiled. "Dude, you are one of my favorite youtubers... Do no no square."
"No," Gaege chuckled.
"Do it. I want to see it in person," I joined in.
"Really? Right here? I'll do it later or something."
"But Jay wants to see it too. Please?"
"Ugh... fine." He rubbed his face with his palm and sighed. Gaege rolled his eyes then lowered his voice a little bit. "No, no, don't touch me there. This is my no no square," he sang in his Juicy voice. "Happy?" He smiled at me.
"This is insane," Jake said with a big grin. "Oh, did you see Hex on the slope? She's sick, isn't she? She really could have gone pro by now."
"Yeah, what she did was fucking crazy. She's full of surprises."
"Just you wait, man. You're so lucky dude."
"Thanks dude," Gaege held out a fist for an awkward fist bump and when Jake returned it, he grabbed my hand and lead me off. His smile dissipated. When we got around the corner and into the elevator he spoke, "who's Jake?"
"He's an ex from high school. You jealous or something?" His face turned a slight shade of pink when I asked. "We're just friends. Nothing to worry about." The door to the elevator opened to the fourth floor.
"I'm not worry just... he really liked you, didn't he?"
"To tell you the truth, yes. Maybe because I'm the baddest bitch around or because I'm an actual good person, you'd have to ask him yourself. Get some intel on me before you make any rash decisions. He won't bite either. He's like a golden retriever." I scanned the card in the door and walked in. I left all of my regular clothes strung all over the place from being in a rush. I threw my helmet and jacket at the duffle bag.
"I might just do that."
